I haven't thought a lot about this song, but the initial thoughts and emotions that came to my mind were this. "The line So lets face it, this was never what you wanted" Reminds me of someone choosing to listen to their head instead of their heart when faced with a choice between two girls. The person may not be able to choose the girl that he loves because of certain other relations. They can be as complex as the two girls being best friends. Even if he already has one of them, his heart may want the other one, but he may not be entirely sure himeslf. to me "Our blank stares and empty threats" Is when the girl who loves the guy (or vice versa) knows about the situation but they are constantly questioning what is the better solution. the guy who cant decide what he wants is in a constant struggle between choosing to commit between two girls. Just as well as the girl is having trouble commiting to being okay with it, or wanting to leave. Despite there past, and how in love she is with him. she may not be strong enough to leave. Her faith may be to strong or it could be seen as her being Naiive. She can threaten all she watns, but may never have to guts to actually follow through. Basically at the end of it alll, they are back where they started, staring blankly at eachother. Thats just my take on those two lines. |
