i agree with these posts... insignificant is about his goal to BE something... he wants to be noticed "Can you see me up on the building, from down on the pavement or out in the crowd?" I think this song, and album has a lot to do with his depression and the struggle between being an artistic genius and being a person capable of relationships. It's also like Mr Jones in the sense he desires to BE someone important and noticed. He also mentions Icarus, who is a character in greek mythology... he had wax wings and flew, however he was enjoying flying so much he went to close to the sun, they melted and he died... i think Adam is AFRAID that when he becomes happy is it going to backfire, like Icarus... |
