| Foo Fighters – Wheels Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I think it's two-fold really. The obvious meaning, and the one Dave Grohl intended, is that of troops coming home. The meaning in regards to the band is stated in the second verse "This is our beginning coming to an end". It's not the end of the Foo Fighters. It's the end of the beginning of the Foo Fighters. Like Dave said about the Greatest Hits album "I don't think our greatest hits have been written yet" [paraphrased] |

| Children of Bodom – If You Want Peace...Prepare For War Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The song refers to a latin saying: Si vis pacem, para bellum Essentially, it means "If you want things to be peaceful, then you need to prepare to fight for that peace because it isn't going to come without a battle" |

| Yellowcard – Cut Me, Mick Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"Cut Me, Mick" actually refers to, as was previously stated, the famous line from Rocky where the titular character asks his trainer to cut his eyelid away so he can see to keep fighting, because his eye is so bruised that it's swollen shut. In a sense, the singer is asking this unnamed confidant to do the same. Cut away the gloss so I can keep going. The person in the song acts as Mickey did to Rocky in the Rocky series, a companion who always believes in you, even when you don't believe in yourself, but isn't blinded to your faults. No matter how big he gets, the other person is there to cut open his eye to remember who he is. |

| Dream Theater – The Count of Tuscany Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Actually John has confirmed that it is based on a real event that took place in his life. | |
| Oingo Boingo – Little Girls Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| That would be the music video for the song | |
| All That Remains – Indictment Lyrics | 16 years ago |

But in that same respect, the Catholic Church led the crusades back in the day, which was basically devoted to slaughtering Muslims and driving them out of the holy land. Not to mention the Spanish Inquisition. It's not just Islam that can be applied to this song. Anyone who uses their God as justifications for the evil they commit is under indictment. |

| Black Tide – Warriors of Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ugh what was I thinking? Blech... | |
| Mastodon – Blood & Thunder Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Technically, since Moby Dick itself is considered by some to be a sexual allegory, this interpretation could be correct. At least the fact that there may be some sexual underlyings. |

| Shinedown – Better Version Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The chorus is the epitome of sarcasm. It's absolutely beautiful. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite Shinedown songs. | |
| Rise Against – Re-Education (Through Labor) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Actually if I'm not mistaken, and I most certainly may be, what you described is NOT anarchy. What you described is democracy in its purest form. Anarchy is the complete and total absence of government, ANY government at all. It's a state of being where there are no laws. It literally, I believe, means without rulers. And in the scenario you described, there are in fact rulers, even if it is the majority (yes majority). Hm...as I'm writing this I'm doing research on the subject. While the philosophy is very detailed and longwinded (as philosophies are wont to be) what you described still seems, to me, like a form of government, which contradicts the basic meaning of anarchy. Hope you didn't take any of this as an insult or anything, I just felt your statement a bit contradictory to what I've gathered anarchy meaning. Obviously the philosophy kind of ignores the original meaning of the word. |

| Dream Theater – In the Presence of Enemies Pt.2 Lyrics | 17 years ago |

You um...have it backward. ItPoE is inspired by Priest, not the other way around. But this song was definitely inspired by Priest, John Petrucci has confirmed as much. |

| Paramore – Decoy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is so about Sedusa from the Powerpuff Girls. Seriously, this song is fucking awesome. It goes with Misery Business so well. |

| Dream Theater – I Walk Beside You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I love how people get so offended when someone even considers that a song might be about God. You're the ones being narrow-minded, not the people interpreting the song as one of faith. I personally see it as an undying, impossible to understand from the outside bond between two people. Be they friends, lovers, siblings or parents. Regardless of everything, Person B will always stand beside Person A. |

| DragonForce – Cry of the Brave Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Am I the only person who thinks of Season 1 Sailor Moon when I hear this? "Since the darkness took our minds They burned our courage many died Had to leave it all behind rebuild our lives" The Black Kingdom invaded the Moon Kingdom and destroyed it, killing the Senshi. They were sent 1000 years into the future to get a second chance at life. "Passing memories remained It made my soul a burning flame Haunted dreams of my desire Reveal my name" The memories came back, first with Venus, then the others. The memories ignited in them the courage and power to face the Black Kingdom again. Reveal my name? Can you say Princess Serenity? The Moon Princess? "Fly across the high seas and mountains Rise above the golden horizon Far away beyond the gates of space and time Through the wastelands forever and on Still we fight on for our freedom The cry of the fallen souls bleeding Forever journey through the lands of ice and snow Will we face all the fears of the world? The cry of the brave" The chorus primarily reminds me of the final battle with Beryl at the North Pole. The land of ice and snow, face all the fears of the world (the four youma that killed them). "Since the time we saw the sign Destruction of your feeble mind Centuries have come and gone but nothing's changed" The Black Kingdom has returned and is beginning to destroy their lives again, forcing them to give up their dreams to become the Sailor Senshi once more. "Hopes and dreams have disappeared Destruction of your kind is near Trapped inside your suffering eternal flame" Same as above really. The end of the world is coming so they have to give up everything they hope for the future. "In the depths of your desire So secretly you feed the fire Burning through the memories of all our lives" They embrace who they used to be as it approaches the end, both past and present lives converging as they prepare to settle what they didn't in the past. "Watch the day turn into night You reach out for that guiding light First to be the one to hear their blinding lies" This verse seems to fit Prince Endymion becoming a servant of Beryl (first to hear their blinding lies). She lies and takes over his mind, but acts as the guiding light to his confusion over who he really is. Oh yeah, I just so broke down this song to fit Sailor Moon. I win. |

| My Chemical Romance – Shut Up and Play (Disenchanted) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| If the recording was better I might like this version more, but I definitely prefer Disenchanted, it just feels so much more sombre and macabre. | |
| Aerosmith – Dream On Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Oh my lord, Steven Tyler's singing on the scream on part is so fucking incredible. This song more than any other is why he's my favorite vocalist of all time. That he can hit that part EVERY time (even today!) is just infucking credible. | |
| Aerosmith – Rag Doll Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Because they're written by Aerosmith? It's hard to find an Aerosmith song that isn't fricking amazing. This song is so epic :D I love it! That riff is so awesome. Also Steve Tyler always wins. |

| Meat Loaf – Out of the Frying Pan (And Into the Fire) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yes Jim Steinman's pianowork is amazing. The piano solo at the beginning of Anything for Love gets me every time. | |
| Meat Loaf – Bat Out Of Hell Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Actually the author of the song has stated numerous times that this song is meant to depict the ultimate crash scene. So yes, it is quite literally about a man dying after wrecking on his motorcycle. You should learn to research before blasting people who have heard the meaning from Jim Steinman himself. |
|
| Meat Loaf – I'd Lie for You (And That's the Truth) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written. No one can capture the kind of feeling Meatloaf can, his voice is fricking amazing. This song means a lot to me, it reminds me of my relationship with my girlfriend. |
