Okay..this description is kinda sloppy but yeh its my interpretation. This song makes me think of a guy who is in a relationship with one of those girls that has an uptight way of thinking that a man is supposed to be successful and the main source of income etc. etc. Because of the mainstream way of thinking she acts like he is not good enough for her. Despite this, he knows that she will grow out of it and learn to appreciate the small things in life. Basically, he is Eccentric and she is realistic. He kind of needs to grow up but she kind of needs to lighten up and enjoy life for what it is. "When I talk you keep looking away from me Because you probably think that I'm high on pot But I'm not, I'm not" He's obviously a goofy, free-spirited guy who is just trying to be happy, but she thinks he's immature. "Look me over I'm the Cap'm You say it's such a joke But I don't see you laughing" By saying he's the Cap'm, he's referring that he is in control of his life and their relationship, but in a way that fits him. It's a way of saying he is in control but he isn't a control freak, like most men. "People seem to think you can't be called the Cap'm Unless you drive a boat Well, I don't I don't" He's basically not like other people. He isn't bound by other's beliefs. He can do anything he puts his mind to. "Sit beside me at the helm Yeah, this is what I call the helm And this button here is the fast-forward button" He's telling his girlfriend to sit with him and watch tv with him, but he realizes that he's in a little over his head...and realizes he is a loser with the "fast forward button" part. "Did you say what I think you just said My hat looks good on me? I agree, I agree" The girl sees that he now feels like a loser (because he can't please her just by being himself and because he's not able to give her grand material goods). She sort of comes out of her angry mood to make him feel better. She realizes he is just trying his best to make life good. Thus, he is enthralled that she still thinks he is cool and goes back to his yippy-skippy attitude. Then at the end he yells "i dont" multiple times to emphasize that he will never change! love this song. |

| I think the lyrics refer to Bill Murray back in the SNL days, where all the actors were on drugs and dying from overdose and such. He survived through the days of getting lost in drugs and/or apathy. Pretty much what wolfe said. | |

I think when Damon Albarn creates a music video for a song, it's because there are two meanings for the song. The real life meaning, and the Gorillaz meaning. To me the song is about being wasted. Drunk. I'm walking to the something, Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, Collapse! I'm drinking too much blah blah Blah blah blah blah blah blah, Fall out! I'm feeling really blah blah I want to blah blah blah, Collapse! And in the end, it means I'm Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah The end! I pulled myself together, Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, Watch out! I didn't believe the patience of life Blah blah blah blah blah, Collapse! Don't you get too close, or I'll Blah blah blah blah blah, Break out! Stick it up your nose, Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, The end! The "Blah Blah Blah"s refer to the time that passes which he cannot remember..it's all mumbo jumbo..meaningless. The lines before each "blah blah blah" show how he slowly becomes more and more wasted, until he's so messed up that he's putting random objects in people's noses. Thus, we see the hilarity of drunkeness. I didn't mean to do it,( He was drunk, he couldn't control himself) It lovely in my **head**( It seemed like an alright thing to do at the time) I tried to be a charmer, But **got a bit hopeless instead**( Probably hitting a girl who is sober and very uncomfortable by his presence The world is very sexy, It's part of my collapse (Meaning, he feels like everyone and everything is sexy when he is drunk, so he has no inhibitions, but once he wakes up from the drunk state he'll realize all of the mistakes he made the night before.) I didn't see the music video, but it sounds like the Gorillaz go through some trying times(like they always do in their videos). Even when there are serious meanings to a song, the Gorillaz allow it to still be humble..and childish. Wew! that was a lot to write. ANyway..this song is absolutely hilarious, and i think margorillaz also has a pretty good interpretation... |
