I always thought the lyrics were 'someday I am gonna grow wings, a chemical reaction, instead of growing useless' rather than 'hysterical and useless'. In fact I'm still convinced I'm right! The word 'hysterical' barely makes sense in that context, and 'instead of growing useless' just plain sounds better as it fits in with 'growing wings'. |

| The lyrics are quite sad, almost regretful. But the melody is so catchy and it makes me laugh because it's set as my friend's message tone and it always goes off at inappropriate times. | |

This is a sad song, it makes me think of some sad loner who thinks that if he can only learn to play guitar, everyone will love him and worship him and he'll have friends and be happy. And he's suicidal and thinks that'll be the end of his problems because he'll get to heaven where everyone can play guitar. I know it's meant to be sarcastic, but this is just what it makes me think of ;) |

He loves this girl and would do anything for her (hijack a plane to France) but at the same time he feels as though he's not good enough for her, for instance he drinks too much. But he's trying to make himself better - to search for the better part of him, because he cares so much about her (your hold on me is stronger than the alcohol). However he also knows that this won't last forever and sometime they'll have to go their seperate ways. For now he's just enjoying her company and feeling lucky that he's got even this short time with her. Also I think it should be 'turning up the fan' rather than 'the flame' as it makes more sense that way? =/ |
