I, too, thought this was about being heart broken, basically. I thought the part about eyes gouged out, was maybe she had seen him cheating on her or something else that really just devestated her. i dont think she literally gouged out her own eyes, but maybe she wanted to. And she had been crying so much that all thats left to cry is blood. But, I can also see the line "These tears of blood fall, for blood is all she's crying out" to mean that shes 'seeking blood', as in she wants revenge. "Her heart beats on, she's just not giving up yet" I'd have to agree that I think that's about her not being willing to give up on love, even though it's left her a complete mess. "She stares death straight in the face, heart beats on" I took that as her standing up to whoever hurt her and kind of showing him it wasn't enough to 'kill her' and that she's stronger than that, which I also get that idea from "she rises above him" "As he cuts into her chest" I took as literally the feeling of heartbreak, like instead of being back-stabbed its more like being stabbed in the heart, and it just further shows that he did something pretty unforgivable but she's strong enough to move on. "in this crowded room with an empty view" more metaphorical, kind of like shes got a full heart, fully capable of love, but she doesn't know where its going to go now. theres plenty of people out there for her, but she has no idea where to even start looking BUT from earlier "she floats toward the light" thats her like 'gettin back in the game' and being ready to find something new. "save your goodbyes we all know it's not the end" is kind of like, yeah, "we" are over but we'll still see each other out and about and stuff and this isn't the end basically. Yup, thats what I thought =] |
