For years I would swear this song was about Princess Diana. I was certain the woman portrayed in the video was her. At the time the song was released she was wanting to leave Prince Charles for an "ordinary world". And Duran Duran was her favorite band. And I think I read that she helped finance the album from which this song came. Yet, I haven't read one comment that suggests this. Can I have been that wrong all this time? Does anyone else see the Diana character in the video - the hat, the wildly overdone dress, the fixation on her marriage to Prince Charles, her wanting to get out of the marriage? |
