Warren Zevon – Hit Somebody Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song. I know it's supposed to be tongue-in-cheak, but it still sorta gives me goosebumps at the end.

You could look at it as a song with a positive message; disguard everything(personal safety, in Buddy's case) to achieve your dreams; no matter what the cost, you'll never regret it.

I don't neccesarily think he's dead, he was probably just knocked unconcious. "Cold-cocked" is just slang for either a cheap shot or just a vicious hit, not a reference to Buddy's death.

Whatever the message or Buddy's outcome, this song displays Warren Zevon's ability as a storyteller. He was one talented bastard.

Nickelback – Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting (Elton John cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
It doesn't really have any meaning coming from Nickelback, it's just a fairly poor cover of a good Elton John song.

Alice Cooper – Ballad Of Dwight Fry Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is inspired by the actor Dwight Frye. He was known for playing insane, psychotic people. He's just singing from the point of view of a typical Dwight Frye character.

Suicide – Frankie Teardrop Lyrics 17 years ago
My God, is this not the most chilling song you've ever heard? It shows a typical industrialized life; the incessent, chugging drum machine shows how it's constantly moving and how some people fall behind it and can't catch up. It continues long after Frankie kills himself. It just keeps going; Frankie Teardrop's disturbing mercy killings have no effect on the stoic, emotionless charge of human exsistence. The screams are bright flashes of white light in a bleakly gray landscape. They poke holes through the fabric of the brain, reach the soul, and rattle you. I think they show stark realizations on the pointlessness of everything: a failed life, a ruined family, three dead people. None of these things matter. It fades away quickly. This is the quintessential song about nihilism.

Throbbing Gristle – Hamburger Lady Lyrics 17 years ago
Throbbing Gristle tried to create a disorienting aura to illustrate the pain, dispair, and confusion of a woman who was burnt so badly from the waste up that her flesh looked like hamburger meat. They also tried to create an ominous, evil sound to display the cruelty of keeping someone like that alive. It's a very disturbing song.
