| Jenny Lewis – Rabbit Fur Coat Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| A rabbit fur coat also provides warmth and protection from harsh elements. It acts as a shield. This is such a beautiful song, and the interpretations here are all pretty much what I would say about the song, with only that one little addition about the meaning of the rabbit fur coat. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Even You Brutus? Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
this is, as of this moment, my favorite song on the new album. just perfect. as for the meaning, I think he's telling a story about falling in love with a younger girl who has a boyfriend, but they eventually have a falling out ("well, i guess i never told you some things that I really, really wanted to say...") and he's telling this story to Brutus and Judas, saying, "you haven't even seen betrayal yet". |

| Phoenix – Honeymoon Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| We all have our own Hollywood. That magical place that if we can just reach it, maybe then we'll find happiness. Maybe then we can live out our honeymoon. | |

Just some minor corrections, these are the lyrics from the digital booklet ------ I would lIe anywhere wIth you, any old bed of naIls would do, Ink up the wound for a crude tattoo, a bIg old red heart wIth an anchor stuck through lIke a sIster ophelIa, tell me you’re there! lIke a lIfelIne ophelIa, tell me you’re there! o ophelIa I feel yer fall... ah any old bed of naIls for me, just so you’re there when I fall asleep, I’d lay all nIght In a lanky lImbed heap surround me lIke a warm bath, sum me up lIke an epItaph, be blatant as a baIlIff, I want my lIps to blIster when we kIss o ophelIa I feel yer fall... our love, frankensteIn In nature and desIgn, lIke the shelleys on theIr very fIrst tIme, when our bodIes become electrIfIed, together we brIng thIs creature alIve It’s alIve... It’s alIve... It’s alIve! ------ It's a wonderful song, I love the lyrics. The Frankenstein and Hamlet references are wonderful. These guys deserve to have huge success with this album |

| Scissor Sisters – Take Your Mama Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I think it's sooo obvious this song is about a gay guy coming out to his mother! I mean, in the first verse, Jake Shears sings, "Something different / All the girls they seem to like you / Cause you're handsome / Like to talk and a whole lot of fun." For one thing, the "something different" line should be the first signal that this is about a gay guy. And just the whole part about all the girls liking you "cause you... like to talk and a whole lot of fun" is obviously referencing how girls love having gay guys as friends. If you got something different out of the song, that's fine. But to say this is not about being gay is totally inaccurate. After all, the lead singer/songwriter is gay and most writers tend to stick with what they know when they're writing. This is a gay song. And a wonderful song. |

| Two Door Cinema Club – What You Know Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I feel like this song is about a guy or girl (guy in this case) that knows he can get this girl (or guy) because they "don't like to be alone." He knows he's "not the best" she can get, but the fact that she doesn't want to be alone will lead her to settle for this guy. And he knows this, and he's not sure if it's worth the hassle of starting something since she'd be basically using him just so she wouldn't be as lonely. So while she may think she likes this guy, she's "known the whole time" that he's just a stopgap, a temporary fix. | |
| Twin Shadow – Castles in the Snow Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| haha either way the next line, "we walk along our golden crest" works well | |
| Kanye West – Monster Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| So let me be the 5th person to say that Nicki Minaj is AMAZING on this track. One of the best rap performances I've heard in a long time. This is enough to make any rap aficionado fall in love with Nicki! | |
| The Flaming Lips – Fight Test Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I always thought this song was about Wayne dealing with a close friend/family member dying... especially with the last stanza, with him talking about how there are things he can't avoid in life now that he's older... and it would do no good to fight "Him" for taking his loved one because he can't win that battle but this is a great song... i find myself to be very non-confrontational but there are times when fighting isn't such a bad thing, where you need to fight for something... wayne coyne does an excellent job of portraying that feeling |

| Pink – Funhouse Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| it's funny that you say that cause when i first heard it on my computer I looked to see if i had an im from facebook | |
| Muse – Uprising Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| and it also reminded me of Goldfrapp's "Ooh La La" | |
| Modest Mouse – Guilty Cocker Spaniels Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think the line "the truth stopped and the skyline rose" means they had to change their sound to please their record company, and it turned out to get them huge commercial success ("Float On" and the album "Good News For People Who Love Bad News") I believe "the truth stopped" means that they weren't really true to themselves because the record company forced them to change their sound and "the skyline rose" is symbolic of a big city and being more commercial |

| White Rabbits – Rudie Fails Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| when i first heard the title of the song, i immediately thought of the clash song "rudie can't fail"...i wonder what the connection is between the two songs. any thoughts? | |
| My Morning Jacket – I'm Amazed Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Incredible song...love the lyrics. Perfectly describes my feelings. The third stanza is definitely my favorite. And I love that this song immediately follows "Highly Suspicious." Shows the versatility of this amazing band |

| Franz Ferdinand – Ulysses Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Awesome song...not much to add on meaning...but does the intro to the song remind anyone else of "I Turn My Camera On" by Spoon? | |
| Snow Patrol – Open Your Eyes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| great interpretation ftwaye. that's exactly what i got out of this song. The person singing wants this other person to open their eyes and realize that he is there for her, while everyone else isn't (get away from these liars, they don't get your soul or your fire). They don't understand her like he does and it hurts him that she can't see it, that her eyes are closed to this fact. | |
| Bon Iver – Skinny Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
To me, I interpret that line as Person A having told Person B time and time again how much they "love" B, but since all the love that A has is wasted, A obviously couldn't love B as much as he/she said. So that leaves Person B wondering "who the hell was I?" if you never truly loved me. Great line, so powerful |

| Wyclef Jean – Slow Down Feat. T.I. Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This might be my favorite Wyclef song too. I love the opening lines of the song..."We cry for peace, but we live for war." I think what he's saying with that line is that everyone says that they want peace on earth, but people hurt each other every day. Kind of like the whole "practice what you preach" philosophy. And hopefully with what has happened in America this past week, Wyclef's view of the world has changed a bit. Go Obama! |

| Dido – Don't Leave Home Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I've always thought this song was a sweet love song, but now after reading the lyrics and the comments, it's pretty obvious that it's about addiction. And now I love the song even more...I mean, it sounds all romantic, but it has nothing to do with love between two people. And I also like the fact that it's sung from the drug's point of view...very cool, Dido! |

| M.I.A. – Big Branch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
great song! and this is a bonus track! but yeah, the meaning is pretty self-explanatory. killstar pretty much summed it up nicely. as for my favorite line, i love the "sex is so cheap, i get it at KFC". hahah, mia is the shit! |
|
| MGMT – Kids Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| lapopofighting...while you are right, the use of "kids" in the song is a metaphor for us. it's saying that adults act as kids by not thinking of consequences of their actions, such as when we cut down trees ("control yourself/take only what you need from it/a family of trees wanted to be haunted") | |
