| Pearl Jam – Breath Lyrics

I LOVE this song, I've been a Pearl Jam fan for a while but I only came across this song recently. I think it's a person who's been afraid to see the world and make the most of his/her life and now she's telling someone she loves not to make the same mistakes that he/she made, because he/she regrets not living life to the fullest - mostly out of fear.
I can relate to this song because I have major social anxiety and that keeps me away a lot. This song helps me through that. |

what a great and under-recognized song! where are all the comments?!?!?!
"As a Brit I think this is saying to America stop being so insular about yourselves. America was founded on immigration, you nation has been built on the blood and sweat of countless Europeans, Africans and Asians and that shouldn't be forgotten." - Great comment there and I'm American |

I love this song. I heard it for the first time when I saw him live back in October, and I fell in love with the imagery and the memories in this song. Absolutely beautiful like every Bruce song!!! |

| Bruce Springsteen – My City Of Ruins Lyrics

This is one of my favorite Bruce songs, because the first album of his that I really heard was The Rising, my mom played it all the time, and I fell in love. I connect with this song so greatly, my city - although clearly not as bad as Asbury Park - used to be so alive and fun. I was driving through the old neighborhood on halloween and looking back. I remembered when I was a kid, how packed the streets would be with kids and families, and the block party every year. This year I only saw a few kids out walking around, but mostly saw a bunch of creepy guys walking around, carrying guns. It's terrible the way things have to change. |

I don't think anyone will ever fully understand the meaning of this album. I've been looking on these boards every day and I've come up with about 1,000,000 different theories. That's what makes the writing on this album so amazing |

| Cobra Starship – Being From Jersey Means Never Having To Say You're Sorry Lyrics

this song is EXTREMELY underrated. I think Cobra did a great job of making an acoustic song, so different from their other songs.
GMen5599 has a great point. I think that's exactly what it's about.
I think this was supposed to sound a bit like Nirvana's Something in the Way. When I heard it I imagined Gabe lying down singing this, like Kurt in Something in the Way. Plus Gabe is a big Nirvana fan. I might be wrong, but that's what I think. |

it is about political parties influencing the way people think. people just follow one belief not really understanding it. the two parties fight and fight, but don't really understand what they're fighting for, they can't just come together.
people don't understand what they're following "as clowns you follow suit behind the blood..." my favorite line is "Up on the cross, crucified their problem drove the nail and let him rot." comparing this situation to jesus.
people are anti-america and they don't really know why. with jesus, people were anti-jesus just to follow what everyone else was doing.
i think this is a brilliant song, even lyrically, it shows you can make a strong political statement without being anti-america. |

yeah that's true. he can scream he just chhoses not to. He did mess up his throat, he popped a vocal cord or something, but he can still scream. he knows it will mess him up even worse, and he also knows that they sound better w/o it.
this song is about, I think, always taking on the stresses and problems of your friends, and they take advantage of you, get under your skin. he wants them to back off because he is always there for them, and he is angry because they don't return it. |

this song says that the people who put you down or bully you are going to get what's coming to them sooner or later, so stand tall and wait it out, 'cause karma's a bitch.
and btw, they didn't sell out. they like to change it up every c.d. to keep people guessing, which is pretty ballsy. |

amazing song.
it's about being in an abusive relationship, and the only way out is through the other person setting them free, or suicide. The power is in the other person's hands.
Things could have been better, but the other person ruined it, and the only way out was to leave. |

this is talking about dealing with the death of a loved one (GF, friend, prent, etc.) and the friendship with the one person they had left to confide in has faded with time,
"two in my heart, have left me a while, I stand alone"
it'll never be the same, even if his friend does return. when they were young and innoccent, everything was okay. But after the death of the loved one, they grew up, and will never go back to the way it was before.
I can really relate to this song, and I think it is one of the best A7X songs EVER |
