I love this song...it's so ambient...I like to listen to it as I fall asleep every night...very awesome It's hard for me to decide exactly what this song is about. My first thought was about the evolution of human civilization, but maybe not... :/ |

I was listening to this song on my brother's PSP yesterday...at the top of the screen, the entire (and I mean the ENTIRE) title was spelled out: Fuck Condoms, Premarital Sex Is The Shit, Get Er Pregnant, Get Er Pregnant, Get Er Pregnant! |

| Puscifer – Sour Grapes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I like the remix of this song =] it's absolutely awesome | |
| KMFDM – Juke Joint Jezebel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song sounds very upbeat, but the lyrics are pretty dark. Interesting. | |
| AFI – Third Season Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I actually agree with PunkRockAFI. I don't know exactly why I do, though. Maybe it's because of the music video. In the music vid, the band members are sitting on a porch, and they watch as a kid goes over to an ice cream truck. He is denied the ice cream, as the price is 4$ and he only has 1$. Then all the neighborhood kids come over and ransack the ice cream truck, and they get what they want. Really, though, I don't know if this has to do with the meaning of the song. |

This song kicks ass. I don't really know much about what I means, but I DO know this.... The End Justifies The Means is an idiom that means: in order to achieve an important aim, it is acceptable to do something bad. |

Ad one more thing-- Bellybutton stigma is a straight-up asswipe. Damn hippie. Someone should rip his balls off and shove em down his throat |

Hmmm looks like someone had too much meds xD Okay, Lost Keys goes into this song, therefore there's a connection between the two songs. A guy is on LSD, and he's experienced a lot of crazy shit from its effects, so he sees s doctor for help. At the end of Lost Keys, the doctor says “tell me everything”. Basically, I think Rosetta Stoned is everything that the guy is telling the doctor. Either that, or he may be having a flashback of his crazy experience (though that seems unlikely). Just my 2¢ |

| Flobots – Handlebars Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
First off, this song is flat-out awesome. And I love how in the beginning, there's that sinister voice "I can ride my bike with no handlebars". There are two guys who are best friends. They grow up together. First, they ride their bikes without handlebars, see a platypus, and make a comic. Then, they go their separate ways, and move on to bigger issues. They do things such as splitting the atom of a molecule, hitting targets through a telescope, etc., etc. But, since they're on their own, of course they're not doing these things together. This probably means that they're sort of "competing" against each other. It's like one of them goes "I can do this!" and the other goes "Well, I can do THIS!" And maybe, it's even causing them to drift further away from each other. OKay, so I don't exactly know how to explain my interpretation, but...just my 2cents. |

To all the people who said this song was about Adam's dog, you guys are right. His dog passed away from cancer. His name was Eon. |

I think this song is about being paitent, keeping your hopes and faith, and not giving up, even though you're on the verge of giving up. But for what reason? Think for yourself. |

This song is protesting censorship. You can hear the rage in Maynard's voice. Tool hates it, and I totally don't blame them. BTW, the music video is AWESOME. Check it out. |

Okay, okay, sorry I didn't post this msg immediately, but for reasons beyond my control, I was unable to access the internet. But here's my update :) I went to sleep around 10 pm, then I woke up by myself at 3am. It was dark and quiet and empty, yes. First I listened to Lateralus because I felt in the mood for it. The song itself is kind of suspicious. And then I listened to Triad, the song right before Faaip De Oiad. You know the long silence that follows after that song? Well, when Faaip De Oiad came on, it caught me off guard because of that. And so I listened through to the whole song. All I'm going to say now is...don't listen to this song at night, ok? Creepy experience. |

Wow. Let me just say that your guys' stories creeped the crap outta me. I've listened to this song once before...in broad daylight, by the way...and it was straight-up freeeeaky. When I finished it, I just sat there and a chill went down my spine. If it was just like in broad daylight, then you can only imagine what happens in the dead of the night. For this very reason, I myself am going to crawl under my bedsheets, close my eyes, crank up the volume so that I hear nothing else, and play it through, while nobody else is around. Tonight. Yes, THIS very night of 6-9-08. Late, past midnight. See what happens. And then later tomorrow, I'll post an update on how the experience was. :) And btw...isn't it cool how a band can totally have the power to just haunt you shitless? Only Tool can screw with our minds like that because that's how incredible they are. Fricken amazing... |

Another thing I forgot to add, yeah yeah, I need to get it over with already, but... If Maynard isn't singing about himself, then he's definitely singing about his old friend, Layne Stanley, who died of a drug overdose a few years back. Also, Maynard states that some of his friends had gone through recovery. It says it in a part of the interview. Read for yourself. Flames/disagreements still accepted. |

Crap...one more minor thing to add to this interpretation... Look at the line that says “So suffocate, or get out while you can”. Here, he's telling himself he can either let his habit turn into an addiction, or stop himself immediately before it gets worse. Just a minor addition. Thanks for reading. Remember, you can flame me if you disagree with me. |

I THINK I know what this song means... I read in an interview where Maynard says he “experimented” with drugs before...however, he never got a drug addiction. He says “there's this little voice somewhere that goes ‘Hang on...come back...'” He also said, before that, that he's “definitely experimented before, but never got so into it that I couldn't dig my way back out, luckily.” Maybe...just MAYBE...this song is about his drug experiences. So, here's my own interpretation of the song. My warning meant nothing You're dancing in quicksand Why don't you watch where you're wandering? Why don't you watch where you're stumbling? You're wading knee deep and going in And you may never come back again **Maynard starts experimenting, but he KNOWS what will happen if he really gets into it** This bog is thick and easy to get lost in When you're a stupid dumbass, beligerant fucker **Drugs are easy to get addicted to, and he just might be dumb enough to do so** I hope it sucks you down **Okay, I don't exactly know what this line means, but maybe he's saying something like “This is what you deserve, this is what you'll get if you keep this up.”** Wandering and wandering No one even invited you in But still you stumble in stumbling But suffocate Or get out while you can **And he's still experimenting. The “No one even invited you in, but still you stumble in stumbling” line probably means that no one or nothing had any influence on him to do drugs, but he still ended up doing it** No one told you to come in I hope it sucks you down **Read the parts where I commented about those two lines above** Okay now, my interpretation is probably wrong, but I think it has some sense to it. I forgot the URL of the interview, but it's called “Maynard James Keenan-Not Yet Dead, Not Yet A Legend” Look it up on Google. Since my interpretation may be wrong, feel free to flame away. |
