| I like to think of Fernando in this song as a personification the San Fernando Valley. | |
| Amy Winehouse – What Is It About Men? Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think this song is about her, as much as it is about a cheating guy. She's sleeping with a bloke who's married, and she hates that he's doing this to his wife, while at the same time realising that she's just as bad; she's doing to this woman what her father and his lover did to her mother. The Freudian fate thing, I think, is brilliant; she's just doing the same thing her father did because she's screwed up... It's like the guy said in the intro to the deluxe edition of Frank, she could just as easily be singing "What it is about me" rather than "What it is about men", she'd just rather not blame herself; she'd have to hate herself then. |

I love this song. The call and answer with the girl group, it's fantastic. And even the yodelling is great; it's just pure, happier Amy. It's pretty obvious what this song's about; some guy, who she just can't stop thinking about, who she works with, and occasionally sees outside of work. |

| Rilo Kiley – Silver Lining Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I heard 'Breakin' Up', and decided to buy this album. This song sold me on it. I love the beat; so happy, and yet so sad at the same time. I think the song refers to how this girl has a bad relationship. Not abusive, just not a good one. And she has defined herself by this relationship, but she doesn't want to anymore; she was '[his] silver lining', but now she's realised she's better than that, '[she's] gold'. Only thing is, they still love each other. She's absolutely had enough, but she still cares very deeply for him, and so she's hoping that that love will 'die'; go away, and she hates herself for it. |

I can only interpret a meaning for this song in the context of my own experience. I think this guy is very, very angry with a girl who he's been friends with for a year. He's fallen in love with her, and he has been trying to get her to fall in love with him (It took me all of the year/To put the poison pill to your ear), but he's given up, as he realises she loves someone else, and now he's just telling her, as a friend, what he actually thinks of her (Now I stand on honest ground). He sees that what he's always seen as love is wrong, and it's driving him insane. He loves this girl, that loves a sinking stone, a person that'll never love her, and he realises that she will come running back to him when this falls through, so he's telling he's not interested. |

| Joshua Radin – Sky Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I don't think it's a happy song at all; it's kind of just showing how these two people are happy in theory, and they love each other, but when they get deep down into it, they don't trust one another. This is only expressed in their dreams. Ingrid is suspicious that Joshua is sleeping around on her with her best friend, he thinks she'll dump him when someone 'new' comes along. Am I reading too much into it? Most definetly. Still, it's got me thinking. I don't think this is a song about people who are content; they're kind of happy, but there's still a lot of insecurities. |

| Correatown – I Tell Myself Lyrics | 17 years ago |

One of the most haunting songs I've ever heard in my life. I think the song's just about someone who wants someone to reach out and touch them. They've been through something, something terrible, they've locked themselves away emotionally and they're ready now for someone just to notice them again. |
