| ABBA – The Day Before You Came Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The lyrics leave the ending open, but the music gives it away I think. There's a morbid suspense in the music. Like something 'bad' has happened to the narrator. The voice is quite breakable, as if she's a mood of contemplation and accepted her grim destiny. The 'you' in the story is maybe her killer. Because eventhough it's an open ending, what the lyrics don't tell is said by the music. The answer is in the music this time, not in the lyrics... | |
| Coldplay – 42 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| a few ppl couldnt decrypt the ghosts he sings about here, i think (what he is implying) ghosts are lost souls that are stuck to earth because their life was stopped dramatically and they couldnt fininsh it in piece. You didn't go to heaven and you made it close. | |
| Morrissey – Angel, Angel, Down We Go Together Lyrics | 17 years ago |

i think morrissey's own answer should be fullfilling, but I dont believe it's 'just' about Johnny. I listen to this song in a wider approach. I thinks he's singing/soothing to/about himself. He has talked about his depressions and it's like he's thinking back of those heavy times and almost sooths and comforts his 'older' self. he goes back to the hard times in his thoughts. Angel, Angel Don't take your life tonight And whgn they've bought you And they've sold you And they've billed you for the pleasure And they've made your parents cry I will be here Oh. believe me I will be here ...believe me Angel, don't take your life Some people have got no pride They do not understand The urgency of life But I love you more than life I love you more than life I think the words are too heavy and demanding to be just about johnny. To me it's quite clear he's adressing himself here (as well). |

| Robbie Williams – Something Beautiful Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think 'something beautiful' is in this case drugs. In the first verse he sings he can get his love from the human kind, so he seeks for something else: for instance: You can't manufacture a miracle The silence was pityful - that day And love is getting too cynical Passin's just physical - these days You analyse everyone you meet But get no sign - the loving kind Every night you admit defeat And cry yourself blind You can't manufacture a miracle either. You can't happy instantly, unless you take some drugs. The second verse goes into it a little more detailed. If you can't wake up in the morning 'Cause your bed lies vacant at night If you're lost, hurt, tired or lonely Can't control it - try as you might May you find that love that won't leave you may you find it by the end of the day You won't be lost, hurt, tired and lonely Something beautiful will come your way He's sayin: may you find (that love) by the end of the day. Clear reference to drugs in my opinion. LOL> |

| Leonard Cohen – Everybody Knows Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this is a murder story. "Everybody knows that you've been faithful Ah give or take a night or two Everybody knows you've been discreet But there were so many people you just had to meet Without your clothes" "And everybody knows that it's now or never Everybody knows that it's me or you And everybody knows that you live forever Ah when you've done a line or two" Everybody knows that the naked man and woman Are just a shining artifact of the past Everybody knows the scene is dead But there's gonna be a meter on your bed That will disclose What everybody knows A meter on your bed clearly says it: when the police discloses the murder scene. And everybody knows that you're in trouble Everybody knows what you've been through From the bloody cross on top of Calvary To the beach of Malibu Everybody knows it's coming apart Take one last look at this Sacred Heart Before it blows he's not going to get away with it (everybody knows) and he knows it. |

| Belly (US) – Sweet Ride Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this is about escaping reality through drugs. The person in the song has a rough life and is 'down for a sweet ride'. Once was lost now am found. This is my dream. Coming down, And smiling too loud. Smoking and soaked to the bone "Once was lost now Im found" (the feeling after shooting up) "Smiling too loud" (you're in your rush and not aware of anything else) "Smoking and soaked to the bone" goes for falling out of a rush. We wear my mistake like a crown. Mistake is for addiction, and when you're high on coke you feel like a king or a queen. It makes you feel superior. Anyway, t hat's just my 2 cents. |
