I like to think that this song could possibly be referring to "the glass" as a photo frame. The photo could have a picture of a lost loved one (death or moved away) and the singer is looking at the old photos of them together. Wether this person was a lover or mother/father is unclear "How do you feel? That is the question But I forget you don’t expect and easy answer..." I see this as the part of the relationship that went sour and where problems began. The last few lines of each verse… e.g. "And while you’re outside looking in Describing what you see Remember what you’re staring at is me" Or "Before you tell yourself It’s just a different scene Remember it’s just different from what you've seen" …Are coming from the other person (Lover, mother, father, whatever it may be) and are also looking at the photos, reflecting back on them I think a father could be who the singer is referring to, hence the same voice. The son is growing up and is turning into a man so they have the same voice. Sometimes like ordinary life. Death could be the main theme of the song because "the stars shine" for the person, as in they become brighter to lighten up the son’s life because of his father’s death. |

Okay, so i got it a little different from other people so here we go.. "Hey there, I know it's hard to feel like I don't care at all. Where you are and how you feel. With these lights off as these wheels keep rolling on and on. (and on and on and on...) Slow things down or speed them up. Not enough or way too much. (and on and on and on...) How are you when im gone?" Basically, I'm thinking that she has really hurt him (cheated or something and been caught)(i got that from the "Where you are and how you feel." - She's with him) and he's got in the car and started driving, trying to get her out of his head. Things in his head just play over and it's killing him inside they keep going slower in his head, but it still hurts when he tries to speed it up. "And I can't make it on my own. (And I can't make it on my own.) Because my heart is in Ohio." Pretty obvious, he is struggling without her so he just drove and drove and now he's miles away from her (she's still in Ohio - she has his heart) So cut my wrists and black my eyes. (Cut my wrists and black my eyes) So I can fall asleep tonight or die. Because you kill me. You know you do, you kill me well. You like it too, and I can tell. You never stop until my final breath is gone. He's having trouble sleeping because the pain is killing him and perhaps (not sure) this isn't the first time she's cheated on him? and he thinks if he goes back it will happen again and again until he's dead "Spare me just three last words. "I love you" is all she heard. I'll wait for you, but I can't wait forever." He wants to tell her one last time that he loves her and he does want her back (again referring to "'cause i can't make it on my own") but he wants her to make the move, if she takes to long, he wont be there... Thats what i got anyway, and to all the dickheads out there who are going on "oh, fucking emos, etc", grow up!! You really need a girlfriend... Have some respect. And one last thing, Hawthorne Heights Rule, one of the best bands around I think, made me see things I couldn't before |
