so about the meaning...
boy and girl had a really close relationship. she did something that hurt him bad. he still loved her and cared for her, but couldnt forgive her for what she did. they thought maybe time would make things pass, and they could be together again. as time passes, the feelings they have over what had happened, his hurt/anger, and her guilt, continue to torment them. then he remembers her, and realizes that they can still be there for each other, comfort each other, etc. each has to get out their feelings. so they are there for each other. whether or not they get back together, who knows. but what this is about is still caring for the other person even after the worst. anyways thats my interpretation of this song. yay. |

this is a total feel-good song. the opening trumpet with the mute is very comforting. warm. humble. sincere. like a big hug from stranger who really does care. its like the trumpet almost says "cheer up." this was sort of me and my girlfriends song. but then she made some bad decisions, and we are in limbo now. its hard to listen to this song now. i think it is just saying that we were together, things were great. we broke up. and after the bridge, its not "goodbye to me to you to us" its just "here's to me to you to us". in other words, things were great then, but now their not, but i dont regret a second of our time together/it was great. but then it says "things werent better than, you felt that you had to pretend." maybe this is referring to how they broke up. or that he is still sour about the breakup. "then you stop and sign and then you wonder why" why did they break up maybe? or maybe he is saying that "as time goes by" he realized just how great the relationship was, and why did they break up? |

i think he's arguing with himself whether or not to commit suicide. its like he's expecting bad news or something. and if he has some terrible fear confirmed, he will kill himself, but if it isn't true, he wont. i dunno. theres too many themes going on. i did catch the part about "trust me i've been there before...." hes trying to say that rock bottom is a terrible place to be, and he wouldnt wish it upon his greatest enemy. personally i have hit rock bottom and it IS terrible, but you cant save anyone else from hitting it either. maybe he is trying to say that suicide isnt worth it? |

i wish that was the truth starfyredragon. me standing up for what i believe in almost got me killed. i lost my g/f and all my friends and almost my life. over my belief in not doing drugs. however, as it turns out, after this all happened, i later came to find out that i had inspired all those same people to stop. maybe that is true?
PS: pendulum is amazing. |
