Regina Spektor – Two Birds Lyrics 16 years ago
I like this song. But I think it may not be about a couple or even a husband and wife. It also might not be as negative as everyone's thinking. Really, the birds could be anyone. Regina wrote it vague leaving it up to interpretation. That's what makes her songs so easy to relate to. So, it could just be about a parent unable to let go of their child, or two friends becoming themselves, and so going seperate ways.

Old friends, the kind that are so close they're attached at the hip - practically inseperable, who planned to stay together; go to the same schools, live close to one another, keep in touch. Some people are content staying where they are in life, never aspiring to be more. I think the "lying" bird is one of those people. Especially with its "One more or one less / Nobody's worried" attitude. The other is looking for adventure, and seems to believe that their "lying" friend still wants the same things as they do, which holds them back. There's no conflict between them, but a difference in personalities and life goals that has grown apparent, and so these birds are stuck.

Coldplay – Life in Technicolor Lyrics 17 years ago
This is such an amazing song! It's happy, upbeat, inspiring. Coldplay is very clever. The beginning of Life in Technicolor mirrors the end of Death and All His Friends. I personally hope they don't release a version with vocals, the lack of lyrics makes it a bit of a mystery. It let's us each interpret the song differently, without the impression of words.

Regina Spektor – The Call Lyrics 17 years ago
The reason this song seems so different from Regina's usual stuff is because it's not as free form as her songs typically are. It was written for Prince Caspian. If this song's about a relationship, it's the relationship between Narnia and the four heroes of this story.

I think the thought and word of which she speaks in the beginning is "the call" itself. Part of what makes this song beautiful is that we'll never really know what that call is for certain. It leaves it open to speculation. It has a different meaning for everyone that listens to it.

I'm pretty close to graduating high school, and leaving behind several close, but younger friends, which saddens me deeply. This song reassures me that I'll keep in touch with them. It's sad but positive at the same time. It's simply a beautiful song.

Regina Spektor – Aquarius Lyrics 17 years ago
This is such a beautiful song. I don't think it's a cry for help, though, and I don't really think she's speaking to God, either. I feel like she's singing to whoever's listening. The overall tone of the song is a positive one. In the end she sings:

"I'm not a skillful water carrier
But I've learned to carry love,
learned to carry love..."

It's as if she's saying even if she's not successful in what she does, she'll always have love. She's looking on the brighter side of her misfortunes.
