Beltane was the Celtic midsummer festival, I believe. I have no idea what this song is about, or if it's about anything, but it's great. Great guitar part.

Led Zeppelin – Trampled Under Foot Lyrics	17 years ago
The title probably refers to the heaviness of the riff and has nothing to do with the lyrics, that's what I've always thought anyway. Robert Plant has said that the lyrics were inspired by Robert Johnson's Terraplane Blues. This is my favourite Led Zeppelin song, what a groove!
