Nobody is perfect. MJ's music truly is inspiring and so amazing. He has a song for every mood of mine. Put on your headphones and listen to Stranger in Moscow. It's amazing! Even this song. They're just sooooooooo powerful and emotional. I don't think any musical artist will ever be able to do what he has done. Ever. I wish he could keep writing songs like this and go on tour again. It is like my dream to see him live. |

I couldn't agree more with Navy. That's my take on this song as well. Maybe because our experiences are the same? I don't know. But this song means a lot to me. And it's so hard when you love someone so much and you put yourself out there but then if it doesn't work out it seems that you can't ever just be friends again. Love sucks. |

Yah of course it's about a guy who is telling his girl to hold on and wait for him. He has to do what he has to do first to become a better man and fulfill his destiny even though it's hard on their relationship. I LOVE this song because I've been in a long distance relationship for so long. He's in med school and I'm applying to grad school in a few months and we don't even live on the same continents. Nobody would understand us. But we love each other so much. And if we focus on ourselves right now we will be stronger when we are together. That's how I feel. And that's how I think he felt when he wrote this song. He had to do what he had to do before he could be with his girl. |

I agree with what the person just said above me. Everyone can relate to this song. Everyone has challenges in their life and has felt like they were "in the background" at some point I'll bet. For me...it was my own fault. I have had those times when life couldn't get any better. And then I pushed away the few people I love more than anything....my family. |

anchorsaway, I love your take on the song. That's what I think about this song as well. My boyfriend is on a completely different continent. We've had a long distance relationship for a long time and nobody understands us. We have been through so much together, which has enabled us to have a strong relationship even though we are so apart. But I LOVE this song. When I send him pictures he doesn't like to see my eyes because it makes him soooooooooo sad to see my eyes. He loves my eyes. He can't handle seeing them in pictures cause it tears him up and makes things harder for him. |

Third Eye Blind definitely doesn't get the recognition they deserve for their music. This song for me is just another one of those songs that I think to myself damn...that's how I feel, but I can't write it out so brilliant like they did. Everyone knows why he wrote this song. But the cool thing is you can take it and interpret it however you want. I love the line "I've never been so alone, and I've never been so alive." The loneliest times of my life were when I did feel the most alive. My bestfriend is soooooooo far away going to med school and I miss him so fucking much. He's the love of my life. I don't know if we will end up being together or not, but I always have that "burning" for him.
Or it reminds me of an ex and how we won't ever be friends or speak again. That's really how it should be interpreted. Probably the best break up song there is. But it doesn't make me sad to hear this song. I could listen to it a million times. |
