I am getting this song tattooed on my left rib cage in like two weeks. Gonna go well with the 10,000 days eyes on my chest and the cross from the parabola music video in the center of my chest. Also thinking about getting that double helix from the video on my spine. What can I say, there are few things I love more than tool and tattoos. |

I'm not even going to enter into the debate. Slipknot is awesome and so is this song but all of you make both the band and song sound pathetic. Go finish your high school deplomas out and stop trying to interpret music with the education level of a 15 year old kenyan. |

I am not going to pretend to have read all the comments about this song, but there are a few that I think go a tad too far into it. There should be no question that the song is talking about someone who has come through some heavy shit, fucked up, hurt some people around him/her and is now past it and trying to move forward. Allot of what ive read talks about drink driving being the foul deed in the past or drugs or something like that. I think that by it is much more simple and general than that...its something or some groups of things left unknown on purpose so as to allow you to have the song speak to your own life more easily. Most importantly, I think this song is meant to serve as a warning. "its so good to see you are past your bad times (be it anything from heroin to a selfishness problem) but be sure that you do not forget that it was you that did those things and be careful not to fall back into those same patterns again." when you think about it like that, this song can speak to any issue in anyones life. Maynard, I think, likes that his songs can be interpreted by anyone and writes them that way on purpose. He wouldn't write a song about a dui because that would only speak to a small %age of people. Maybe it is based on his experiance with someone who was in a dui accident, but that's not what it is specifically about. Just like stinkfist is based on maynards experiances with heroin but is not necessarily about heroin addiction. Whatever, I'm typing this on my phone and
thumbs hurt, I think ice made my point. |
