...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead – It Was There (That I Saw You) Lyrics 10 years ago
Intense, energetic, melodic, mysterious. And that break in the middle is great. Hard to pin down but crazy good.

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead – Mark David Chapman Lyrics 10 years ago
Chapman was another lost soul mesmerized by the satellite transmitted dream of rock stardom. In killing Lennon, his obsession was consummated, but his part in helping to erect a legacy can't be denied.

Mark David Chapman deified John Lennon.

Radiohead – Sail to the Moon. (Brush the Cobwebs Out of the Sky.) Lyrics 13 years ago
This song screams "Burning Bridges" off Pink Floyd's Obscured By Clouds album. Both are beautiful songs.

LCD Soundsystem – You Wanted a Hit Lyrics 15 years ago
To me this song is a statement about authenticity. Lots of music comes out as an expression of a spontaneous , creative drive but usually in the "real world" that has to be met with or compromised by money, consumer demand, demographics etc. This song is about saying fuck you to the "real world" by questioning the validity of it's demands (ie: "You wanted it real/but can you tell me what's real?").

Sonic Youth – Disconnection Notice Lyrics 17 years ago
To me this song is about being told that you're no longer 'connected' to that which you are or do. specifically, since it explicitly mentions being a professional musician in the second verse, "hurry up, the stage awaits you don't forget to memorize your lines" i always figured it was something of a personal note from the band about how ill received NYC Ghosts and Flowers was, how maybe in one fell swoop years of acclaim suddenly "slipped away". I had never heard that bit about Kurt though, that's interesting.
