Lana Del Rey – Florida Kilos Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Umm what... geniusbetch, you must live in a box. I think that you two are obviously trying way too hard to interpret this song. First of all, you don't know me therefore don't accuse me of "making everything about drugs." Sure it's "cute" she thinks it's "YAY, snOw" but it's not. YAYO IS COCAINE, I didn't just make that up for the sake of it being my own interpretation. Second of all, maybe you should follow your own advice and "think more thoughtfully about the feelings and points of view of others before acting in the future," seeing as how you just disrespectfully accused me of having a drug problem because of my interpretation. I don't have one, but if I did thanks for your concern. Whatever let's you sleep at night. Maybe when you actually read the lyrics and realize some things she says like hmm idk "DOPE FIENDS" and "you SNORT it like a champ" THEN you can come talk to me. Just because Lana is a recovering alcoholic does not mean she can't sing about whatever the fuck she wants. Her lyrics are explicit and constantly about drugs, alcohol and sex and if you don't realize after the first listen of Florida Kilos that it's about cocaine, then maybe you should not be listening to Lana at all. |
Lana Del Rey – Florida Kilos Lyrics | 9 years ago |
White lines are not obviously snowflakes, they're actually white lines of cocaine and she definitely does not have a distaste for sunny weather, as the setting is meant to be sunny and hot. When she says snow she's still referencing cocaine because it's also white. Yayo is another slang for cocaine, not a mix of yay snow. |
Lana Del Rey – Florida Kilos Lyrics | 9 years ago |
This song is about a couple that deals together living in Miami, FL. There are multiple hints that this is about cocaine, number one obviously being that she says "yayo" repeatedly and cocaine is in kilo bricks, hence Florida Kilos. The "white lines" are lines of cocaine. "White palms, baking powder on the stove, cooking up a dream.." They're not baking a cake, they're cooking up some crack. "Guns in the summertime, drink a cherry cola lime" I don't think this has anything to do with being on a diet and wanting to be fit with "guns" for the summer, it's simply setting a summer scene and it's an actual gun. They're drug dealers.. "We could see the kilos or the keys" again with the kilos and "keys" reference what someone people use to snort the coke "Prison isn't nothing to me if you'll be by my side" Assuming they at some point get caught selling dope, they're obviously going to prison "We could get high in Miami" "You snort it like a champ" Pretty self explanatory |

MGMT – It's Working Lyrics | 14 years ago |
everyone was pretty much dead on. i personally would have never guess thats what it was about. "Another track on the new album called "It's Working" seems to explore the same topic." Yeah. It was the first song that we demo-ed almost a year ago. Ben [Goldwasser] and I went up to this little cabin in the woods in upstate New York, and the second I walked in the door I sat down and played this chord progression. The next day we expanded it into a song. Lyrically, it's about doing drugs. I didn't realize it until now, but it's kind of funny, because the first song on our first album was "Time to Pretend," which was about the imagined rock star scenario. So, "It's Working" is like, "Yeah, we went out there and we did a lot of drugs and it's not that great." The song is mostly about Ecstasy. Is there any specific experience with Ecstasy that influenced that song? No, not really. But that's how we envisioned the track when we were writing it. It stops and starts a lot; it's frantic, confusing. There's also a surfing thread throughout the record. When you're surfing, there's a specific break you're paddling to. And when the waves are really good you say, "It's working." The song kind of has a surf-y vibe. It's like surfing on ecstasy. Which is what the "Time to Pretend" video is like. Actually, the video is more like surfing on acid. -Spin interview with Andrew i lovee this song already. as soon as i heard it, i was pretty much hooked. |
Bloc Party – Like Eating Glass Lyrics | 14 years ago |
it's about at relationship that fell apart. he says "it's so cold in this house" because one of the people has left so it's just lonesome and cold. And I know that you're busy too "I know that you care You got your finger on the pulse You got your eyes everywhere And it hurts all the time when you don't return my calls And you haven't got the time to remember how it was" whoever left was too busy to have a relationship and it seems that they aren't so concerned with the relationship ending because they still have other more important things on their hands. "I can't eat, I can't sleep I can't sleep, I can't dream An aversion to light Got a fear of the ocean" the other person is just at home depressed and still missing them. "like drinking poison, like eating glass" obviously drinking poison and eating glass is very painful just as it's painful when a relationship ends and the one you love leaves you. it's a comparison to a loss. |
Bloc Party – Letter to My Son Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i'm pretty positive it is about a pregnancy. he's just going back and remembering the way it happened, "you look so right in that red dress" then he explains how the whole thing happened "See what trouble we could both cause By the bedroom door, the kitchen floor" and finally he says "oh marlene, i'm too young to be a father to a son." (which i'm pretty sure is what he says since it's not written down) and "forgive me after" (i think it's after and not oscar. kele just has the british accent ya know) which is for the decision he'll make to either leave her since he's not ready to be a father or maybe want to abort the baby. |
Yacht – The Afterlife Lyrics | 14 years ago |
such a cool fucking song. she's got a neat voice. |
The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Q: "So what's the song really about?" A: " When we're young, we act first and think later. But as adults, we rationalize everything. Basically, the song is about capturing the innocence of youth." - In NYLON NOV 09 i love love love this song. |
Modest Mouse – Dramamine Lyrics | 14 years ago |

The Cure – The Reasons Why Lyrics | 14 years ago |
suicide for sure. it's a sad song but it's just soo fucking great. this song is meant for you to just sit there for ever and listen to it on repeat and let it sink into every single one of your pores. "You'll lose the need of certainty And make-believe eternity To find the true reality In beautiful infinity...." my favorite part. |
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll Lyrics | 14 years ago |
it make sense interperting it as alice and wonderland and ecstacy because theirs actually a connection between the two. i'm pretty sure the writer of alice in wonderland was actually on some sort of ecstacy related drug if not, ecstacy itself. thats why that movies so trippy and scary in a different level of scary. like whoa. so it could be about both. or at least i think.. |
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll Lyrics | 14 years ago |
10 kudos. it's not a bad commercial but.. hope they don't get too comfortable. |
Tigercity – Other Girls Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Peter Bjorn and John – Poor Cow Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i'm pretty sure this song has to do with consumerism and how people now-a-days want things they can't have and are just looking to spend money. "When we don't consume it seems we are immune To all of the thoughts they sell, You know as well as I, that's a lie..." |
MGMT – The Youth Lyrics | 15 years ago |
if you don't like it just don't listen to it. no need to start criticizing what others think is really good music. all bands have different styles and lyrical ideas, it doesn't make them "butt-heads." |

Bloc Party – Hero Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the first verse sounds like the man works so much that he puts work before his girlfriend and when he promises he's going to be with her or hang out with her one day then he ends up working instead so it's just another bad day with a waste of promise. the second means that they leave and enter the house hardly acknologing each other and they realize that they don't know each other as well as they thought they did and they don't know if it's funny or sad but most likely sad. the chorus means that she's just waiting for him to be a hero or someone else to be her hero who will pay attention to her because when their together it's like a sadenned akwardness or just an intense emptiness and theirs really nothing there. she knows he's extremely tired which is why she doesn't complain much and it's a great tiredness that metaphorically she could hear it from across the sea. their really young yet their together living with each other and their waiting for things to get better on their own while not taking much action. then they realize they kinda need each other to be happy cus their miserable with and without eachother but they can make eachother smile and laugh and thats all they really need. so they decided to get married and from there everything will turn out smoothly. the guy will make an attempt to be with her more often and call in sick for work every once in a while so they can make it work. and they lived happily ever after... |
