"A big man with a plan" = god. obviously. The big man and his plan is referring to another flood, a la Noah's ark. |

I like the Lolita reference. I saw the black and white movie adaptation and when it mentioned Nabokov in the credits I immediately thought of this song and went "ohhhh. i get it now." I think snapcracklepopz is 100% dead on, by the way. |

I don't personally understand how this is about sorcery. The only time it ever mentions anything to do with sorcery is the word 'apprentice', which people are probably associating with that cute little Fantasia segment with Mickey Mouse. There are lots of things you can apprentice as. The fact that he mentions the devil twice in this song is just a coincidence. It's part of the beautiful imagery that makes this song so wonderful. And as for the Lord of the Rings theory... There are other reasons to be transfixed by a ring. I don't think this song is narrated from the point of view of an impish grey creature who likes to hiss "prrreeesccccciioousss" at this woman and her ring (Nor is it from the perspective of Elijah Wood and his hairy little feet). I'm fourteen and it was plainly obvious even to me that this song is about an affair with a married woman (who is older than he- she considers him the 'young apprentice'), and there is definitely some sexual aspect to the relationship he has with her. There aren't a lot of things "fruition" can mean in the context of a song about an extra-marital affair. I've been listening to the Police for as long as I can remember with my dad. They are one of his favorite bands and I grew up with them; I love them. I went to see them live in concert for their very last tour tonight. My mom and dad are separated now and I live with my mom, but during the encore performance of Roxanne I called him and held up my cell phone so he could hear. |

Here's what I think this song is about: This boy has a crush on a girl, and she kinda likes him too, but for some reason she can't date him. Maybe she has a boyfriend or maybe she isn't allowed or something. And so they kinda fool around in secret, but they keep it light. But he starts to become really obsessed with her. And so he rapes her. That's what I think it's about. |

About the asshole of his eye: He's talking about how it makes him cry whenever whoever the person implied as 'you' cries. |

"Tickles in my tummy"? "He's so yummy-yummy"? It's an obvious sexual reference. This isn't that hard, guys. They're friends with benefits. The girl wants to be more, the guy doesn't. |
