I think I'll come back here and leave another comment after I think about it more, but I just wanted to say that lahlahhh makes a really good point about the part where he says "lets pretend we never touched the sugar", the tone of the song almost sounds utopian after that point |

I think the song is full of metaphors referring to sobering up. Particularly the part at the end, "I'm getting back with that terrible feeling", for example. "My vision is cracked but it looks like its healing". Four in the morning, about the time you start to sober up if you've been drinking all night. The bat refers to the bacardi logo, the reindeer refers to the Jagermeister logo, and I'm sure the rabbit is some other type of liquor or maybe beer. That's my theory anyway |

I would have to think that the song is just a list of things that Joel thinks is harmful to society...I say in his opinion because like, what did wheel of fortune ever do to anyone? or Hula Hoops? |

The first verse seems to have a lot to do with the planet and climate change, but the other two don't, so I really have no idea what its about |

Nothing really came to mind while listening to the song, but after reading all of you wrote, the post-apocalyptic idea seems to make the most sense. To me, anyway. I don't think its about drugs but it could be. |
