Read The Time Traveler's Wife with this song in mind. The book talks a number of times about the quote from a Duino elegy that is "Every angel is terrifying" or "Every angel is terrible" (based on the translation), and one of the main characters creates an art piece that is giant, dark bloody wings, terrible angel wings. The characters also discuss Rilke a lot, a there are a number of Rilke quotes in the novel. The main female character is frequently referred to as "kitten." There are also I believe seven miscarriages in the book. The song came out in 2004, written in 2003, which is the same year the book came out. If it's not intentional, it's a lot of coincidences. But anyway, terrible angels is a reference to Duino. |
