I was thinking that the 'prick your finger' part of this song was a reference to catching HIV and how after that your pretty screwed and 'it [your life] is done'. 'The moon has now eclipsed the sun' I'm guessing is a reference to how you could take the rest of your life to be a really dark time for yourself, and 'The angel has spread its wings' is a reference to how the disease is going to kill you. Looking at the album as a whole I don't think this is his intended meaning, but that's what I take it to mean. |

I think when he says 'raised to be stupid, taught to be nothing at all' he might be referring to Aldous Huxley's Brave New World where people are born into different castes. He made a reference to Huxley in Target Audience as well. Although he could just be referring to the real world and perhaps the real world is becoming like Brave New World. |

I think this song's about how people do things in the name of God, like the Westboro Baptist Church (the God Hates Fags people) or suicide bombers. I think Melissa's trying to say, at least about the Westboro people, is that all love is equal and that gay love is just as amazing as hetero love and that we should all just get on. Also, i'm not sure about this one, but maybe the lines 'My God is you And my God is me' is perhaps saying she's a Humanist? Although as I said I'm not too sure because I think she references god in some of her other songs. |
