The reason why I feel that Alex is referring to a dead lover is the line: "To say goodbye, without you" The realisation that he is having to say farewell without being able to see her face or hear her voice. They are not able to share their last moments together knowing that they will be their last. It is such a sad notion and can be applied to any relationship, with family or a lover, which has been cut short by death. |
