I think this song is saying how we're all basically the same..."made of hair and bones and water and blood cells." But we spend so much time trying to make ourselves different from each other. And the song is saying it's pointless to do that because our bodies aren't permanent. We should be spending more time on our inner "appearance" because that's the thing that will last. |

In a weird sort of way, it reminds me of the movie Sweet Home Alabama. Throughout the movie, you get hints that they sort of grew up together because they got married so young. And, it also makes me think of my own childhood. :) My childhood version of this song is a little more bittersweet, though.
And like everyone else who posted before me, I wonder who this "Mary" person is. |

I'm from a small town in Wisconsin, and I can definately relate to this song as well. I could pick apart this whole song and relate it to things in my hometown, but I don't want to bore anyone. :) |

I think this song is about God. Some of the lyrics just don't sound right if you are singing them about a guy. And, God's awesome, just like this song. :] |

I really like this song. I think it's just about how you should be happy with who you are, because God made you that way for a reason. |
