Rogue Wave – Sleepwalker Lyrics 15 years ago
This has got to be my favorite off Permalight. The guitar riff and drum perfectly capture a feeling of sleeplessness. Deliciously depressing.

Idiot Pilot – Mercury Lyrics 16 years ago
Agreed. I noticed the "yield to the signs" a little after I initially posted, and I have trouble making out the final verse, but if anyone knows it, please post it up, and I'll make the changes.

Sondre Lerche – Happy Birthday Girl Lyrics 16 years ago
I always feel like I have to stop this song before it ends, or it leaves me with nothing. This song is a heavy blow.

submissions
Graham Coxon – If You Want Me Lyrics 16 years ago
It seems so detached. Like the speaker is an angel or diety.

submissions
Graham Coxon – In This House Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is like the official opener to the album to me. "Look into the Light" feels more like a "welcome to your life" sort of intro. This whole album is brilliant.

submissions
Graham Coxon – Home Lyrics 16 years ago
Sounds like he can find security in his memories. Like a beautiful, fictional childhood.

Graham Coxon – Tripping Over Lyrics 16 years ago
What a great song to make you feel wonderfully empty. Almost reminds me of Blur's "This is a Low". Just the feeling, though. Thank you Graham Coxon.

Rogue Wave – Lullaby Lyrics 16 years ago
Sounds like it might have something to do with the stock market. "When I spike, then I value..."
One of my favorite songs. It reminds me of something, and I love the explosions of guitar.

Idiot Pilot – Mercury Lyrics 17 years ago
I recently found the means to hear this song, and I really recomend it to any IP fan. The vocals are incredibly powerful, and I love the downward slope after each verse. It makes me think of a wounded peson in the middle of a snowy field. Just clutching their bleeding arm...yep. It's a really good song.

Idiot Pilot – Moerae (The Locust) Lyrics 17 years ago
Hey, does anyone think this song might have something to do with John the baptist? I mean, it comes right after sparkplug (which sounds like it's about the passion of the Christ) and JTB was sort of an outcast who ate locusts right? Or am I just grasping for straws here? I just thought it might fit in with the themes discussed here and the aftermath of sparkplug, but maybe not.

Blur – Mellow Song Lyrics 17 years ago
This song's effect changes for me depending on location. I feel uneasy if I'm on a walk, but unusually relaxed if I'm laying flat. One of my favorites.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Deep Blue Lyrics 17 years ago
Holy crap. I finally heard this song for the first time, and it blasted my mind away. I can't believe this wasn't on a studio album. This and mercury have become favorites. Really impressive.

Idiot Pilot – White Noise Lyrics 17 years ago
I heard the EP for this is hard to get. It's too bad because I would like to hear more songs like this.

submissions
Eels – Taking a Bath in Rust Lyrics 17 years ago
This might be my favorite Eels song. It's so relaxed, but unsettling at the same time. I was half asleep listening to this song once, and I almost thought I saw a ghost. Weird?

submissions
Fiction Plane – Death Machine Lyrics 17 years ago
He doesn't tiptoe around his feelings, and it makes for a powerful song.

submissions
Fiction Plane – Two Sisters Lyrics 17 years ago
Interesting. I kinda thought it might be something political.

submissions
Blur – Miss America Lyrics 17 years ago
Could Albarn just be saying he likes English girls better? It sounds like a man who is living in close vicinity with an American girl, and her tendencies (dress, manner, language) don't seem as pure or feminine as those of the girls he knows. The song sounds like he's reassuring a girl back home that she need not worry because he has no interest in the girl he has to be near. That's just what it sounds like to me, though.

Peter Bjorn and John – Young Folks Lyrics 17 years ago
This song remind anyone else of "The Adventures of Pete and Pete"?

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Elephant Lyrics 17 years ago
Agreed. The music adds a sense of urgency or a dire situation. Like something doing its best to grab your attention, and it does occupy your thoughts, but you do not verbally acknowledge it.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – The Violent Tango Lyrics 17 years ago
Yeah, it's like a moth against the window when you leave the lights on. Repeatedly flying back to the glass to assess the situation...

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Open Register Lyrics 17 years ago
I know what you mean. I like the original lyrics fine, but I thought it went, "The glorious south" and I preferred that imagery a little more, but that's just me. Pretty song, though.

submissions
Coldplay – Yes Lyrics 17 years ago
Best song on the new album. The transition in the beginning really provides imagery of night and fast movement (like a field).

submissions
Idiot Pilot – A Day in the Life of a Poolshark Lyrics 17 years ago
Sounds like the conclusion to a mixed life. He's done doing what he was good at and what made him special because it's also what gave him self hate. You can hear in his tone that he has a sort of disdain over himself. Almost slightly amused.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Nightlife Lyrics 17 years ago
I really like Ayos's interpretation.

Another idea, could it be about someone who disappeared the night of a big social event because she got involved in something shady. The beginning almost suggests that she heard her about the other members involved getting caught, and so she has to go into hiding. Spiders could be related to the miserable life she has to lead while in hiding, and the searchers are urging her out.

Idiot Pilot – Theme from the Pit Lyrics 17 years ago
It calls to mind a head-in-arms situation. An inner conflict that causes a need to put your palms on your sockets. Tense, but with a layed back tune. Lovely song.

submissions
Citizen Cope – Theresa Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is almost a sad follow-up to "If There's Love." It's like things are falling apart, and despite the futility, Greenwater is still making a plea for someone to listen. Beautiful song.

submissions
Fiction Plane – Presuppose Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is really powerful, especially at the end. It almost reminds you of high school, where appearance is everything, and a lack of it can derail you and make you feel unstable. One of Sumner's best songs in my opinion.

submissions
Fiction Plane – I Wish I would Die Lyrics 17 years ago
This is an interesting song. It seems like the narrator discovers that everyone else is in pain, but unlike a lot of other themes, where the character is uplifted by this discovery, he falls into a rut because he thought it made him unique. The son of Sting scores yet again.

submissions
Graham Coxon – Don't believe anything i say Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song really captures the sadness of having let a day pass you by. Just a sorta feeling of not being able to do anything about your situation.
It's gotta be my favorite Graham Coxon song.

submissions
Graham Coxon – R U Lonely? Lyrics 17 years ago
Kinda sad. I really like this one. Reminds me of lone walkers at night. Y'know, just quietly moving under street lights, not hurting anyone, but people get uneasy 'cos of the times.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Les Lumieres Lyrics 17 years ago
It almost sounds like the city waking up. You get a kinda "nightime" feel. Like store and neon lights are going on, and people are waking up to be consumers. The background almost sounds like the thought noise in a mall. I dunno.

submissions
Carey Ott – Sunbathing Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is really nice. It sorta has a sweet innocence to it. The double vocal towards the end blast my mind away. Compliments to Ott

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Moerae (The Locust) Lyrics 17 years ago
This song reminds me of a sorta teenage version of Charlie Brown. Throw this in the soundtrack and I'd like to watch that.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Moerae (The Locust) Lyrics 17 years ago
The name is anyone's guess, but that's pretty much what I heard. Kinda creepy, but it really makes for a good intro eh?

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Good Luck Lyrics 17 years ago
Is he a soldier falling out of love with the war? It sounds like he realizes that people support war or struggle, rather than peace, so the fight will never end 'cos the fight is the goal. It also sounds like he realizes his comrades joined for a love of inflicting pain. That's just me, though...

submissions
Blur – Caramel Lyrics 17 years ago
The point where "you are" leads to a burst in the music is my favorite part. It sounds like the most body-wrenching part of his struggle.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Last Chance Lyrics 17 years ago
Sounds like the second coming. Some of the lines remind me of terms like "the first shall be last." And the lyric about floating up could relate to heaven. The song also seems to talk about how our culture's cheapened, and how we all want to go up, though we don't really deserve it. I dunno.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Recurring Dream Lyrics 17 years ago
Sounds like he doesn't dream, and it's wearing on him. "Recurring Dream" might be the title because his lack of dreams is the recurrance. It's kinda sad. Reminds me of Winter days.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Cruel World Enterprise Lyrics 17 years ago
Hey, could this have something to do with not wanting to stop in the middle of intercourse? Like the central character thinks he hears the sounds of trespassers or killers in his house, but he convinces himself he is imagining it. "Now that we have found you out" and "The wolves have finally shown their teeth" suggest that harm will befall him for letting his instinct doing the thinking.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Militance Prom Lyrics 17 years ago
Almost sounds like they're trying to diffuse a bomb at a big social event (prom?) The outward sound of explosion, a finite period of time, fire in the hole. I dunno. The line "do you think they'd mind" could have something to do with being a nuisance at prom, but for the purpose of saving lives. Would they rather live or have this night?

Idiot Pilot – Hybrid Moments Lyrics 17 years ago
WHERE DOES THIS COME FROM?!

submissions
Blur – Best Days Lyrics 17 years ago
TheSilverNoble seems to have it right. Kind of a sweet song huh? It makes you feel like you know better and you enjoy life despite their fear. Makes you feel good and sorta sad at the same time, doesn't it?

submissions
Blur – Good Song Lyrics 17 years ago
This has to be my favorite song that Albarn wrote.
I dunno, It's perfect and everything that is good in the world. The music reminds me of long nights by a desk lamp, fighting out life the honest way. A safe haven. Truly a beautiful song.

submissions
Carey Ott – Am I Just One Lyrics 17 years ago
Reminds me of honor class and AP gals who fill their schedules and don't have time for anything else. People like that can really make you wonder how important your friendship really is in the long run. This is a sweet song.

submissions
Carey Ott – Mother Madam Lyrics 17 years ago
This song really shows the kind of person Ott is. Despite how much we owe our mothers, very few male artists will write a song like this and with this much sentiment. Ott's good people.

submissions
Rogue Wave – Are You on My Side Lyrics 17 years ago
The guitar solo at the end is beautiful. Reminds me of white clouds in a black sky. One of my favorite Rogue Wave songs.

submissions
Rogue Wave – 10:1 Lyrics 17 years ago
Reminds me of "Second Best" by the Barenaked Ladies. It seems inspirational because it combines upbeat tunes with lines about the odds being stacked against you. Great running song by the way.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – In Record Shape Lyrics 17 years ago
Sounds kind of like anorexia. The speaker says he keeps himself in record shape (in his opinion), yet the lyrics of spinning lights suggest dizziness and exhaustion. Another speaker reasurres the person that they will not have to do any heavy lifting or chopping. It's the frustration of trying to maintain what you think in your head is a perfect figure.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Planted in the Dark Lyrics 17 years ago
It feels like the start of something infectious. The message is a catalyst, and everything grows out of it.
Lines that suggest itchy skin or skin trapped under stitches, hint at disease. The last bit sounds pretty violent, but it is not without its charm. If you see the wind as an invisible attacker, and a tree as a large stationary target, (It is incredibly difficult to defend yourself from all sickness) then it kinda makes sense, but that's just me.

submissions
Idiot Pilot – Arrhythmia Lyrics 17 years ago
After the word "execute" does anyone else hear "and if I were you, woulda jumped off?"
This song seems like an awakening. When "We found a way" comes into play, it's almost like the eyes snapping open. I dunno if it's intended, but it almost gets you feeling low in the heart, just before delivering hope. It's really beautiful.
