This song always confused me, but i really like the melody. What about this bit where she sings: Blue, blue, black and blue. This could also be refering to a bruise, could it not? Or what else could it possibly mean? |

I like this song to :) you have been thinking everything that has been said about me you can belive everything you have heard about me you can ask questions about the truth is there one, or is there a thousand? answer, straight from the heart now, i can live without your pity if this is supposed to be everything we had time for, then hold me hard, hold me, my love, now. Stockholm wakes up slowly on drugs, and on sorrow the snow gives off its innocence, to the entire Kings Island Square. it feels just like when i came here, way back in 93 a pathetic row of footprints an unknown continent let go, please loosen your grip now i can stand, walk, or crawl away from here if this is everything we are going to have time for, then hold me hard, my loved one, now city wakes up slowly, and i am drunk again the snow gives off its innocence, so all the bullshit just "feels" it feels like when i came here, way back in 93 a pathetic row of footprints a never-ending continent stockholm wakes up slowly and i am drunk again the snow gives of its innocence this the entire Kings Island and it feels like when we came here to the land of opportunity you can follow my tracks home Columbus was my name |

you had some great input Hurricane Johannes, but i have to disagree about one thing in particular. I dont think this is about a friend but about a relationship. Both a relationship with himself and one with what i can just assume is a childhood sweetheart and/or a girlfriend. The reason i think so is in some of the lyrics. "Jag kan få dig när du vill" - "I can have you whenever you want" Surley this must refer to a relationship? He also calls this person "Älskling" which can be loosley translated as "Loved one" But as some of the translations here says it is used as a petname for someone you love, much like "darling" or "honey" I dont think this is something that a guy calles his friend. But maybe that says alot about my knowledge of male friendship. :S In the last two verses he is talking about himself in 3d person, in my oppinion. Thinking about the past, the present and the future all mixed up in fear, regret, acceptance and wishes. |

ok, this is my attempt to translate this song. it all feels rather flawed. guess that goes well with the theme though, haha :-) would love for people to correct and add their oppinions, specially swedish speakers. i tried to be special haunted, skinny and shiny, pale but i am born with stains i had almost forgotten i wanted to be spiritual a glimmering personality but that requiers that one has genes and predisposition and i dont have that and it takes hundreds of years to cover up the defects i am lightyears away miss shaped and cock-eyed and it stings like chlorine like new cold sores a third class sheep when everybody listens to you can you protect me? i just wanted to escape from myself cut away my "unableness" but with the stains i have hidden im already condemned i wanted to be intellectual well traveled, well mannered, disgustingly young but the inheritance weighs heavy genes and predisposition it was all a mistake and it takes hundreds of years to cover up the defects i am lightyears away miss shaped and cock-eyed and it stings like chlorine like new cold sores a third class sheep when everybody listens to you can you protect me? can you protect me? can you protect me? can you protect me? please protect me! |

| Sometimes i feel pretty silly. For the longest time i had this song down to being about a car crash, then last winter when i was had just landed from flying and was on my way from the airport i finally got it! I was like .. omg .. this song is about fear of flying! I am glad to say i now understand why everyone likes it so much! :-) | |

I dont think this song is about a relationship, but rather about a generation of people that became "just like everybody else", i think there is a few other examples of the same thing in their other songs. A feeling that you wanted to amount to so much and you wanted alot in your life but in the end it turned out ordinary. The title is grammatically incorrect in written swedish yes, however alot of what makes Kents lyrics good is the way they manage to use a mixture of quite ehm .. poetic phrases and spoken language. The lyrics are simply written out the way they are being said. |

I really love Kent, there is such a subtlety to their lyrics. But unfortunatley that makes them difficult to translate to english without alot of emotions getting lost along the way. I think Invaders attempt is good, but there is a few things i was thinking about, for example: "Men älskling vi var alla en gång små Ja, vi var alla en gång små Ja, vi var alla en gång små But honey once we were all young yes, once we were all young yes, once we were all young" "Små" does not nececeraly have to mean young, it could just aswell be"little" or "small" somthing along those lines, my point being it implies a weakness, which does not come across if one is to simply translate it as young. Also the ending of the song: "Jag är livrädd för att leva Och jag är dödsrädd för att dö I'm terrified to live I'm terrified to die" I would say its more like: I am frightened for my life of living And I am scared to death of dying This is probably not something one could say in english or even grammatically correct, but it feels a bit closer to the kind of wordgame that is being used there. |
