i think this song is about fate and the inabilty to run from it. when the dad shoots at the dogs (who represent the omnipresence of fate) they run away, but then come back to get his dog shows that fate can be postponed but never avoided. the dogs take his sister and his mother cries dust shows that emotions have no impact on fate, they account for nothing. his fathers lost job and his acceptance of it shows that fate controlls all and there is nothing one can do but accept it. the last part where is waiti |

personally, i used to be a bitter and cynical person and my best friend recommended that i listen and reflect on this song. eventually, i became to understand what life means and that it is to damn short to worry and be bitter. modest mouse helped open my eyes to the real point of life and to just chill and let things happen... to just roll with it. |
