a brief encounter with a woman, sexual or emotional, and he had become strangely attached to her and the possibility of a beautiful experience of relationship with her. he sees so many others enveloped in this experience (friends in the sun). but this woman has passed on this destiny, even though she may have wanted that experience too. whenever he encounters her or her image, it hurts him with the knowledge of what could have been. he moves on, but he all wants to know what she feels/ what is and what was in her head, and why they never pursued what could have been. the pain will pass and another woman will come around, but something about the fragility and indifference has shaken him up.
the music is perfect for the tragic and comedic quality of the song. existential indeed. richard wright is a brilliant guy for this song. |
