| Elbow – An Audience with the Pope Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I too saw the similarity but he has hardly stole the inventive part of Morrissey's lyric, just made a similar point with a different comparison. | |
| Elbow – An Imagined Affair Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think it is all in the lyric he just dreamed up some situation in which he gets together with someone whilst getting drunk, their quantity of songs about drinking make them very British indeed. | |
| Bat for Lashes – Seal Jubilee Lyrics | 14 years ago |
She is English and we don't use dove, it is only an American (maybe Canadian I couldn't say) thing to say dove instead of dived. I actually found this comment a little offensive ;) |

| Bruce Springsteen – Long Walk Home Lyrics | 17 years ago |
thsis song couls be seen as a sequel tosongs like born to run and thunder road guess its just about revisiting what youve turned your back on, the awkwardness that comes with it and the contemplation all the way home |

| Leonard Cohen – I'm Your Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
great song, simple message i love you so much i dont care what you do/want/think i wont change my mind |
| Leonard Cohen – Closing Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
dont think its a big metaphor - i thing its generally about people in happy situations can often have more complicated things below the surface, its just him trying and failing to forget his last relationship he doesnt know what to do except drink and watch others have a good time, also create superficial relationships to ease his pain |
| Leonard Cohen – Dance Me to the End of Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think this song is just about wnting love and not caring about what comes with it he just wants his lover to be there the whole time and he doesnt particular care what else happens |
| Leonard Cohen – Waiting For The Miracle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
the miracle is indeed love or at least instant happiness i think the "bugle and drum" bit is about a potential lover being so obviously in love with him but hes so deluded that he cant see it |
| Leonard Cohen – Tower of Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
personally i think its about sacrificing ones personal goals mainly in the area of relationships, because you are committed to making songs which have negative connotations it just paints a great image like the one in "waiting for the miracle" of being so distant from the outside world and conceding that its no choice of his own |
| Pink Floyd – Poles Apart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think its definitely about syd and waters but im sure both stanzas could be applied to the lives of many people who destroy the good things they have the "hey you" lyric is a big hint that its about waters, you could say its telling waters to take his own advice what concerns me is how smug the words sound if they are about syd and roger |
| Pink Floyd – If Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| its got similarities to brain damage, i guess its about being seeing ones own faults and still coming to the conclusion that we all still have the same needs | |
| Roger Waters – Three Wishes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i guess its about happiness not being able to come in the form of an instant wish or a quick fix it could also relate to being so wrapped up in ones self that you make no time for other people, when he wishes for his dad not to be dead and for musical inspiration its about his own baggage, maybe not so much about the lebanon the chorus is just describing an apparent love at first sight but you just feel too damn busy with emotional baggage to do a thing about it weve all got a bias because the song says different things to different people |
| Roger Waters – 4.41 AM (Sexual Revolution) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
its one of those dreams that seems real because i think hes talking to his wife but then she goes all evil at the end before he wakes up "Hey girl As I've always said I prefer your lips red Not what the good Lord made But what he intended" great lyric, guess the song is saying lust is all we need (eventhough this is just a temporary denial) |

| Roger Waters – 4.37 AM (Arabs with Knives and West German Skies) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
thedanman344, im sure roger can say they are the dreams of a fictional character but i bet they are his dreams really i think the arabs with knives was just a scary image he woke up to (not sure what the political situation was then, if it was made today most of us would say its to do with the fear of terrorism) there doesnt have to be any rhyme or reason to it but the german setting could be related to his obsession with the war due to his dads death, maybe its the sexual taboo of getting it on with this german woman |

| Roger Waters – 4.33 AM (Running Shoes) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
not a lot of chatter for this one, its my favorite track on the album ive had dreams something like this and seperate nightmares like the arabs bit - i think the first half of the album will relate to young males and middle aged males (as waters was at the time) its basically describing a lust-filled yet tasteful dream |
