It sounds like someone trying to get through to someone who needs them. A friend. A lover. A family member. They're fading. But you can't draw them back. You're begging them to listen but they can't hear you over the sound of their own pain. So if you freeze the moment, keep the night from ending then they can't leave you. |

This sounds to me like suicide and a response. How someone who felt like no one gave a shit about them rises above into heaven. But the problem is that the people who are left behind have to live with the pain. To me it says: I wanted to be, but couldn't. So I left everyone. And the reply is: Look. 6 million people keep going, I keep going, the answer wasn't death. its fighting on. And now you're gone and you've left me with this pain and I'll close my eyes and as the curtains draw I think I hear you because you left, but you left a mark, and I keep going. And I tell your story and I can't care because you're gone. |

| Rise Against – 1000 Good Intentions Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This, to me, sounds like losing yourself, losing someone you love to the norm. To the masses. It sounds lost. Like...When he says: You wanna take the passion in my veins and put it down in black and white. They want to take our color, our voices and smother them. Silence them. How could something so right turn out so wrong? We don't have any way to change who we are. This is who we are and we're putting it out there and you're either gonna take us as we are, or try to change us. And you may have the best of intentions, but so did a lot of people who committed crimes. |
