First time I heard this I actually thought he was saying "there is no God" then I listened harder. Love the song, damned catchy as all Trapt is, and I can totally relate. |

I don't know what Corey meant and I won't pretend to, and maybe one of you is right ... I dunno. For me this is a lovesong for a fantasy lover. For obsessive, unrequited love for not a person but the idea of that person in the singer's mind. |

Agree wholeheartedly about the cheesiness factor, but hey, he didn't have much of a choice did he? David Cook's always been pretty independent, i don't think he'll meekly follow the label. i can't wait for his album. Finally, a rocker idol. |

| James Blunt – Fall At Your Feet (Crowded House cover) Lyrics
| 17 years ago

I always thought this song was about an affair. I've never heard the original but still james blunt ain't so bad himself.
My interpretation is, the girl is cheating on her man with him, maybe for revenge, who knows. To her he's no big deal, but he's fallen for her. (i think that i'm beginning to know her). He knows she's just using him but he's okay with that. (go i'll be there when you call). She fascinates him even though she doesn't confide in him. (you're hiding from me now) and the faster bit (the finger of blame has turned upon itself, etc.) is about her guilt about what she's doing. The last bit (who knows where that might lead) is him expressing his hope that someday maybe they can be together properly.
I have the acoustic version and it's totally haunting. |

Hey. How many other lankans here?
This is such a sweet song. Selfexplanatory of course. What really gets me is how young this band is. they're still in school! |

That whole cat argument is SO CUCKOO! I'm not saying the song couldn't be about a cat. I had a cat - she's dead - and trust me, i've said soppier things to her. But this whole thing about cats spelling kelsey with an e - that is just dumb. I loved my cat, but i didn't believe she could SPELL. And just like there's more than one way to skin a cat, there's more than one way to spell its name. |

cso1982, I'm seventeen and i own a most mixed up record collection which contains almost every genre under the sun - jazz and rock - a lot of rock - and hiphop and soul and country and oldies and gospel and pop and rap and classical - so please don't tell me my horizons need expanding. But okay. I get you. Trust me, most of the young people will get it too, eventually. I got there before most because of my musical background (everyone in my family has different preferences so i've heard it all), but my friends are just starting out. Patience. Telling them how dumb they are doesn't help. I know, i've done that. They'll come around.
And the only thing i objected to in wingedfeetxc's first comment was his arrogance and patronizing tone. Otherwise i got no beef |

I like the loud version a lot more that the weird screamless one. That's cool too but the music doesn't go with the vocals. An acoustic version without the metal guitars would suit that voice better.
A most violently good song. I love the band name, too. |

| Shinedown – Burning Bright Lyrics

I was fourteen when this song came out and it blew my mind because it spoke to me so deeply. That was a really rough time in my life, my dad had died, school was tough because somebody i really respected suddenly turned on me, and there was all the other normal teenage stuff going on too. And with all this crap going on i was expected to get straight a's and win all my sports competitions and be the perfect daughter/student everyone expected me to be. So there i was pretending to burn bright while the dark consumed me. i guess i did okay because nobody knows of this shit yet, but i still remember those days as being some of the toughest ever and this song helped me get through that because it was a way for me to let go of all that. I used to turn up the volume and sing along at the top of my lungs and that gave me some release. I'll always love it if only for that. |

Like ihitcows's friend i too started out with the idea that this song is about rape. The video is like totally different, but if you stop trying to interpret it according to that, the rape theory makes a lot of sense.
The way i understand it, this guy is totally obsessed with this girl (like overpossessive boyfriend/stalker-crazy), but she's had enough of him so she's dropping him and he can't take it. He loses it, forces himself on her and starts to rape her.
To me it sounds like he starts out trying to make her change her mind by reminding her how great the sex was and ends up so maddened that he forgets himself completely and is only thinking about revenge. And then when it's over he comes back to his senses and is totally ashamed of himself which is where that refrain comes in - the "what have i become".
I didn't see the video until long after the single came out, so i had a lot of time to perfect this. Still all these other interpretations are all equally valid. Hot song any which way. |

| Our Lady Peace – Innocent Lyrics

Oh god i read the first page of comments and those people are so hypercritical. Innocent was the first OLP song i ever heard, so i don't know what they're talking about, but honestly guys who gives a shit? Instead of moaning 'oh they're gone mainstream oh they've sold their souls', why the fuck don't you realize that this song's mainstream success has turned loads of people onto OLP and isn't that a good thing if you're a 'true fan of Our Lady Peace'? Or does being a true fan mean you want the band to be unknown forever?
God.
Great song though. Total teenage anthem. I've got the chorus etched on my desk at school. And David Cook's cover rocks too. |

@wingedxc
Learn some manners, dude. Just because you don't like this song doesn't mean you can insult people who do. I admit I *am* a suburban teenager, and I may have the personality and intelligence of wet cardboard (leastways according to you), but even I, being wet cardboard, know to be polite.
Personally I love this song. I think it's totally sexy - meaning sexual - and not just the lyrical content. The whole song, riffs and chords and all, has a very sexual tone to it - leastways I think so. And I can't say I can personally identify with it but I do know what it means. The whole idea of being with someone you don't really love only because they're a good lay. Though the guy, the voice or whatever, seems to be a good guy - leastways he's trying to "make this something better than/just making love again" which is more than most guys would do. |

I so love this song. It's funny when I first heard it I thought it was the plain white t's because at the start the lead sounds so similiar to that guy but thankfully the radio dj clued me in. It's such a glorious love song, The Love Song to me because true love is this, you'd give anything and everything for the one you love, even your life - even if the feeling isn't mutual. And yeah I've cried to this more than once. I don't know about weddings though - this sounds like a please-don't-dump-me song and you really don't want to go predicting the future like that at a wedding do ya? Anycase that's my take. Beautiful song any way you look at it. |
