If I could be all by myself, I could be me/free... These words have always struck me as being particularly significant. An old example given by Kant: in full flight, and feeling the resistance against his wings, the pigeon can't help but wonder how much more quickly and easily he could fly without the air around him holding him back. Question: do we really have a solid identity, separable from our relationships with the people around us? Would I be "me" if I could be all by myself? The rest are the lyrics are typical angst, but this phrase is a real gem. Gives me chills every time I hear it. Anyways, this song represents the pinnacle of feeder's old-school dirty rock sound. Good stuff! |
