This wasn't on the American release of Graduation, if i recall correctly was only on the UK version. Which is fuckin stupid, even for a song that was only halfway finished. Ye's verse is awesome and kind of makes you want to cry, especially considering his Mom's tragedy after the CD came out. And Mos Def, even in his guest appearances, is so damn likable and poetic it's ridiculous. Even in Drunk and Hot Girls, Mos is great (altho I hate the song). |

hehe Chi-Town, not Sha-town. It's a nickname for Chicago, yes :) It is blatantly obvious, but that being said I didn't catch it for a long time. Whole new song after that. I initially took it as an actual girl that was just incidentally connected with the city. But there is no Wendy, it's just Windy. Awesome. |

Khujo Goodie's best verse ever probably...way to fit a good portion of a major bible verse into a song for real. Whats he say during the chorus after his verse tho after "Reset them thangs...to them triple zeroes.."? Cee-Lo is man amongst boys again though. His visuals and wordplay are top-notch...Awaken to sunlight that's beyond bright. Life's a bowl of candy, you can have one, right? Extra props for talking about real-life shit too, instead of guns drugs killing etc. Gotta be a man and raise them kids and family. |

He is talking about a LADY, not his girlfriend. A lady is a girl who is beautiful, sweet, and sexy, but not "advertising" or sleeping around town. I'm weakening like a deacon doin dirt Haha just caught this too, a shot out to a book most people read in high school, Nathaniel Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter. The deacon in a colonial community committed adultery with a woman he loved, and while she got branded with a scarlet A and basically ostracized from the community as a sinner, he couldn't tell and she wouldn't tell on him because she loved him. He starts breaking down physically under the weight of his sin and his guilt, even branding himself an A on his own chest. He ends up falling over dead as he reveals to the townfolk the truth in the end. |

The line could also be interpreted as "Don't leave, don't stay" and not "Don't need no chain." Gives a sense that he doesnt want to lose her... I think he's talking about a girl who is his but he won't claim her--if that makes sense. He wants to keep her as his girl but not his wife. First verse--she goes out with her GIRLFRIENDS and is happy about it. She's not out looking for another man. Second verse--Fairly obvious. They are oh so close, but yet so far as in being an official couple. He loves her and he is hers for sure...She is forever his fiance. And as any married man will tell you, once they eat that wedding cake it's game over. I would say if anyone could decode what song the scratches are from would help out a lot. I have no idea who it is sadly. |
