| I think this song is very clever, and catchy. I love it. I can see why it was the first song on "Some Hearts". | |

| Ok, I my meaning is probably not right at all, but I think she had a boyfriend who loved her and who she really loved. But, there was this other guy who she, not only liked, but really loved, and who loved her. She knew it wasn't fair to anyone if she was still with her boyfriend, so the only thing she could do is not have either one. I think I'm over-analyzing, but it explains the immense pain in this song. | |

I think this is pretty much the opposite of her other song, "You Won't Find This". There, she sang about how he'll feel sorry that he left her. Here, she sings about how bad she feels about hurting him. She's singing this when she thinks she made a mistake and wants to get back together with her ex. She knows that he'll do one of two things. Either he'll take her in and they'll get back together, or he'll just turn her down and say "I Told You So". In this song, she expresses how bad she feels for leaving him and wants him to accept her apology. |

I don't think she necessarily was his girlfriend. To me, it sounds like they were getting to know each other and he just kind of left. They haven't talked in a while, and this is like her letter to him. She basically says he won't get too far without her, and he'll regret not even getting to know her enough. He will soon realize that whatever girl he meets, he's never going to be satisfied and probably won't know why. So here, Carrie is explaining this to him. The reason why I think this is about a boy she was getting to know and not dating was because of the line, "in the end, close is all there is". 'Close' refers to how close they were to finally start dating, I think. When she says "You Won't Find This", she means that this guy made a mistake he will regret, and he will never find another like her. Later she says "There's once in a lifetime, and there's once in a while". Once in a while is finding someone who you really like. Once in a lifetime is finding THE one, and Carrie explains how different they are. Some people do find two people; one they love and let go, and they find another and move on. But in this song, she says it isn't very likely. Finally, in the end, after a beautiful, yet sad song, Carrie finally clearly explains the title of the song. She sings, "In the end it’s me you’re gonna miss ". I think this song is beautiful, and it reminds me of something that happened to me. |

| She had a boyfriend because it wasn't working out very well, even though she still had feelings for him. She really misses him and wants him back. | |
