Hey, thanks for putting up the lyrics to another great Dean Wareham song- but wasn't this actually done by Galaxy 500, not Luna? Not that it matters- it's all pretty guitar sounds anyway. |

I hadn't quite put it in those terms, but I like your explanation a lot. Not least because I think such an amazing song must have some equally compelling inspiration- not just relationships or politics, but his understanding of life itself. Also, I love how the implications of the shift from quiet and mournful to triumphant rock'n'roll, once he's come to terms with the futility of his search for a god and such: "I'm all there is? OK, I'll have a good time as I am!"
Or at least, that's my take. |

They lyrical content doesn't seem to have much connection, but several musical features remind me of Madness's "House of Fun"- most specifically the ascending steam organ thing at the end of one of the later choruses (chorai?), and the use of something horn like under the guitars in the first verse. Think there's any relation? |
