I have to wholeheartedly agree with leliathomas. Being surrounded by as well as an individual with bipolar, it fits PERFECTLY. That was the first thing my husband and I thought of when we heard it. Bipolar people are 1. very prone to indulge in coffee and cigarettes. I'm not sure why, but we do. 2. Frequently fluctuate in weight depending on the stage. 3. Would more than likely jump on the opportunity to just get up and go. No planing, very impulsive, AKA manic. 4. He mentions seasons in a part of the song. It's very common for anyone with some sort of depression to be more so in the winter. While he could be referencing seasonal depression, we did consider that Christmas may have been some sort of unpleasant anniversary for her, which is a huge trigger. 5. "One night when you woke up You bled til you spoke up" Cutting, plain and simple. I also have to wonder if he's referencing dissociation, which is very common in PTSD patients who are also frequently diagnosed bipolar. That would support the unpleasant anniversary theory. |
