I hate to be "that guy", but to the person who couldn't figure out what sport had quarters AND a goalie: box lacrosse has 15-minute quarters, at least from my experience. |

The first verse remind me of that one part in 1984, but that's probably not even close to what they were writing about. I don't really have anything productive to say other than I like this song :-/ |

This song's title is how I remembered the difference between "meiosis" and "mitosis" for my biology class last year. Thanks Mr. Bird! |

This song's got something in it that makes it painfully sad, especially in the "ooh ooh"s after the first verse. I love this song, as lonely and forlorn it sounds to me.
Saw this at ACL, it was religious. |

I'm not surprised no one has commented on this song. I'm also not surprised this is the only Chikita song posted now. *Shrugs* I guess they're pretty underground?
Well, I originally listened to this band in the hopes that their lyrics were in Spanish. They're not, but I did fall in love with them. This is my favorite song by them. |

Plug it in and change the world,
you are my electric girl.
I'd like to think that I am his electric girl, however I am but a lowly fan... |

This song is what makes me sure this album will be a contender for Best of 2008. It's just so good. |

Haha, two posts on one song.
The Guardian said this song's about a child drowning. I guess it's make sense. |

This song's got a special place in my heart. It was the first song I ever liked that was alternative rock, also one of the earliest "good" songs I ever liked. I must've been 10 when I first heard it. Now, I look at my 10-year-old sister and how she listens to The Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana. I'd like to think maybe she's a late boomer, but only time will tell... |

The Dodos have changed the way I understand music. Only now, after listening to them, do I realize that music can be as simple as The Dodos make it. It's simple, but so very good. |

Well, if Ruby Beach is in Washington, it would fit. These guys are from Seattle, right?
I think this song changed my life, it's so, so, so good. |

Understandably, Oberst does a fantastic job relaying the misery of the mom after the death of her baby. Not every singer/songwriter can put so much of the right kind of emotion in such a song. |

| Panic! at the Disco – From A Mountain In The Middle Of The Cabins Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
Might've been said before, but I think they wrote this song during the time they spent in a cabin. I think the mountain part of the title refers to the challenges they had when writing the first second album, and the thought and frustration they went through before scrapping it, a challenge like climbing a mountain, maybe? Maybe the mountain also might refer to the expression "the elephant in the living room", or something that everyone knows it there, but refuses to confront. Maybe the all knew the first album needed to be thrown away, but were too tired of writing and working to say anything. Although someone had to eventually.
Still, I'd give a lot to have my hands on the first second album... |

I get the same impression that this song is about two people moving on in a relationship. However, I'm slightly miffed because I think that the tone of this song, to me, is the way love should sound. Great--no, fantastic song, though. |

I don't really think that the "hands between your thighs" thing is supposed to be sexual or anything like that. The tone of this song is obviously sad, even remorseful for something he's done wrong (that's the impression I get). I think that if that lyric was in another song, like "D is for Dangerous" or "I'd Bet That You Look Good on the Dance Floor" than my opinion might be different because of the differences between the tones of those songs and "505". |

Does anyone actually have the album with the artwork? Maybe there'd be the lyrics in there, because after hearing so many people say that it's "these daydreams are gay" I'm beginning to hear that every time I listen to it. |

Oh my gosh, sadrobotscantdance, i thought of the exact-friggin'-thing when I heard this song. I felt all dirty inside for connecting the two completely different bands, but i feel better now.
Love the song, by the way. I think it's great Panic(!) attempts to adventure like this., and they adventure well. |

I joined just to point this out, and someone's probably already said it, but it bothered me that on the pages I read, nobody really picked up on it...
This song is very much like an actual conversation, in the fact that Ben isn't quite singing in the traditional sense, almost rhythmical and somewhat-tonal talking. Moreover, this song is like a true break-up conversation because the two people are arguing at the end, when Ben begins singing, then Jen interrupts him mid-lyric/sentence. I love that. |
