Ive had a thought which maybe someone has already touched on it, but i havent read every post anyway, I agree about the 'everything in its right place' part being about the success of the clone, 'sucking on lemon' sense of bitterness and possibly regret? my main point though is the irony within this song, which is that the lyrics arent completely in sync with the beat of the song so, everything is in its right place with regards to the success of the clone, but the one thing that is out of place is the lyrics and rhythm of the song. Not criticising the song or radiohead by any means here, i think it's fantastically intelligent, one of their most intelligent tracks. To further expand on the point about eveything in its place, it could be showing a sense of comfort within the band itself. they are at a stage where everything is perfect, everything is going to plan, etc But yeah, i love this song, really shows radiohead to be unique and fantastic |

Its about the pressure older women are put under to have huge freakish amounts of plastic surgery. the video, is weird. the silver bits floating about are bits of her guitar. there was an article in the paper about how it was an expensive video, and that the guy who directed or produced thought the idea of an exploded guitar would be appealing to people |

this is a fantastic song, very haunting live. the meaning of the song has to fit into the meaning and them of the album as a whole, which a journey through peril and triumph, you get to where you want to be , but sometimes you have to make sacrifices and bad things happen along the road to being where you want to be. this song for me is about basically about how sometimes it's better to be uncertain about something rather than know how its gonna turn out, like if its gonna turn out bad, you would rather not know in advance. it also could mean being somewhere, getting so far and then not knowing what to do to get past it. finally, i think its clever, because everyone is uncertain about the clear meaning of the song. the best lyric in the song 'you might think that im gone for good, but i know that im coming back' amazing. so powerful, a sense of triumph the way she sings it a phenomenal song. |
