Antony and the Johnsons – Fistful of Love Lyrics 13 years ago
Or yet another interpretation that I once had was that the boy is beating himself up for being the way he is. The boy is speaking as the woman he wants to be, to the boy he once was. She wants to keep him alive, but he is beating her up for making him go through this painful transition. That is the more existential approach as opposed to the previous post which is much more literal.

Antony and the Johnsons – Fistful of Love Lyrics 13 years ago
I think the song is about being in an abusive relationship. But I think it is one with a boy and his father. Since so many of Antony's songs have prevalent homosexual and transexual themes, I think that this boy in the song is very outward about his sexuality and the fact that when he grows up he wants to be a woman. His father loves him and doesn't want to see that from his son because he doesn't understand it. So in his frustrations he uses abuse as a way to deal. It's a heartbreaking song, made all the more heartbreaking because it is the most uptempo on this album. That's my take. Whatever the true meaning, Antony is a GENIUS!!!!

Say Anything – Eloise Lyrics 14 years ago
that video is amazing. the song seemed to get to him. he seemed a little choked up before he was able to speak at the end. this is by far my favorite song from the new album. the raw power and emotion is amazing. i really think say anything has grown a lot and this song shows that.

Bon Iver – The Wolves (Act I and II) Lyrics 15 years ago
all of these interpretations are just spot on. lyriclover, yours in particular, is just what i saw the song as. when i originally heard this song, the final lyrics "what might have been lost" and "don't bother me," i thought of him saying that what might have been lost from the relationship no longer bother's him, don't being used in an incorrect grammatical way (like what was lost don't bother me at all). but now that i hear you say the words are lines spoken by the two feuding ex's, it makes me second-guess my original assumption. i was just curious what other people's initial reactions were.

Cartel – Wasted Lyrics 16 years ago
I love songs like this because it takes on a different meaning for everyone. I mean you can relate to something in this song and nod your head like "yea, I've been there. this guy might be right. I might be wasted." So I need some serious clarification. Is it "nobody" or "the body." I want it to be "the body" so that the stanzas in each verse actually do connect. Because the second verse really appears to be about one person. And the bridge is definitely about one person (the singer). So it would make the song ten times better if the first verse is about one person as well (the father of the baby that died is 16 and dies at 32, having wasted his life and dying so young). Either way its a great song and the moral is clear as day, and a good one at that. It's just a little confusing as to whether they are connected or each stanza a small story about a different person.
