John Mayer – Can't Take That Plane Lyrics 17 years ago
No, this was a song that was supposed to be on continuum but he felt like it didnt fit right. The song is about always only having to worry about himself and what matter to him, but as the song says, "Now I have a love to lead." Meaning it is no longer just about him anymore
Bought a ticket for a trip I wanted long ago
staring deep into crying eyes
said goodbye, stood in line
now I changed my mind
I used to run and never look behind

The trip is just things he could do or wants to do freely outside a relationship
He breaks up with the girl realizes that is wrong and go back to her because he understands now what being in a relstionship means. He lets go of that idea of his bachlorhood and doesnt get on the plane(meaning he does not choose himself over the relationship).

John Mayer – This Will All Make Perfect Sense Someday Lyrics 17 years ago
Very cool message in this song, This will all make perfect sense someday, he is saying that ultimately he will one day look back on all the troubled times and all the thing he had to go through to get where he is and know it was for a reason. Like allof that had to happen the way it did in order to achieve his present outcome. The line the best tells this is
I don't understand the numbers
But my faith is in the math
And come someday these twisted ties will untangle
And we'll look back and laugh

He does not understand how the numbers(struggles) will add up, but they will and the final product will be beautiful

John Mayer – Hummingbird Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the Hummingbird methaphor is about fear of commitment. The Hummingbird stays hovering in one spot or it flys backward, but i does not go forward. So it is like he is saying he wants to stay right here where they are and not move things forward or go to the next level. This line really says it all; Just because I said I didn't want her
Doesn't mean I want her to go
In fact I quite depended on her
But that i didnt want her to know
He did not want her to go but he did not want her in the forever sense.

John Mayer – Who Did You Think I Was Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song, cause it seems like he is finishing what he stater to tell people in Bigger than my Body. In that song he is telling people that he is more than what they think he is and one day they will see that.
"Someday I'll fly
Someday I'll soar
Someday I'll be something much more
Cause I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for
So Who did you think I was is telling them, see I told you this is what I am about, this is what I can do Superdies 318 is right it is alost like he is telling the people who did not believe him and thought wonderland was all he was, that they can go f-ck themsleves.

Frou Frou – Let Go Lyrics 17 years ago
This song perfectly decribes garden state, if you had need seen the movie all you would have to do is listen to these lyric and you would know exactly what it is about.

The song is about not living your life, whether your afraid to life it or too numb to feel it.

"Drink up baby down"-meaning whatever you use to escape life, meds(like in the movie) or alcohol

"Cause its all going off without you"-Life is going on and your missing it, is basically what I got from this line.

"You're writing your tragedy
These mishaps
You bubble wrap
When you've no idea what you're like" - Meaning it is a shame to not let your self feel, or trying to sheild yourself from pain

"So let go, let go
Jump in
Oh well, whatcha waiting for?
It's alright
Cause there's beauty in the breakdown" - This is my favorite part in the song, its perfect. she is saying to jump into your life, start living it. It is not perfect but "there is beauty in the breakdown" The imperfections in people, or life is part of what makes it worth living. Great song

John Mayer – Tracing Lyrics 17 years ago
To me this is a song about a relationship that has gone too fast, "started in the middle," in the line

"and i cant say i really blame you
for being bored with the beginning
always staring at the score
just to figure out whos barely winning
but dont you know
there is a reason strong, move slow"

He is saying he knows that beginning part where you are think does she like me do I like her, trying to put your best self forward is a necessary evil, he says there is a reason strong moves slow, meaning you have to take a relationship through that in order to actually take it somewhere.

Then he talks about knowing it is not going anywhere, but it is alright to just have fun for a little when he says I am ok if your ok with wasting time. Then, (my favorite line in the song), he knows it is over and it is time to go when he says,

"and if you want to know the moment
i knew that i was still alone
i found i never learned your number
i only stored it in my phone
you'd think by now
id know the shape of calling home"

He is saying if he really cared about her, he'd, as a metaphor, "know the shape of calling home"

John Mayer – In Repair Lyrics 17 years ago
Before I ever heard this song, I had started trying to write a song about regret and that moment when I am in bed and I keep thinking about stupid things I have done and how I wish I had done things differently or if I could do them over this is what I should have done, and those thought not letting me sleep. Then I heard this song, and immediately stopped trying cause no one is going to be able to top this, this is exactly everything I was trying to write. It is just a great song.

John Mayer – 83 Lyrics 17 years ago
I wish I was six again, oh make me a red cape, I want to be superman. Lines like that are what all artist should aspire to create, and this guy seems to be those just perfect moment ecapsulating lyrics in every song.

The meaning of this song is not hard to figue out, but it is just so perfectly crafted. Life was so much easier when we were kids and in the line

" I have these dreams I'm walking home
home where it used to be
everything is as it was
frozen in front of me"

He wishes he could go back to that but he cant, he has grown up, but then in the line

"you can paint that house a rainbow of colors
rip out the floorboards
and replace the the shutters
but that's my plastic in the dirt"

It means although other people live in that house, they can not change what it meant to him and how it has inspired the person he has become.

John Mayer – Slow Dancing in a Burning Room Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is just lyrically genius. If you think about a burning room being a relationship you know is doomed to fail, and just like a burning room you know you have to get out sooner or later, but slow dancing in a burning room is just having that one last moment before you say goodbye and have to get out of the "burning room/relationship. Very beautiful song.

Bush – 40 Miles From The Sun Lyrics 17 years ago
This is a very beautiful song, to me it has a very almost religous quality to it. I think he is talking about the end of the world, but not necessarially a we are all gonna die end of the world.

I the first stanze he says things like," no where left to hide, nothing to be done...meaning we can not do anything about what is happening however, in the second stanza, this is why I think there is a religous aspect, because he says our time on earth is done, but all the pleasures just begun, meaning life after death.

Then in the third stanza he says "coats beneath the layers, which I think he is referring to our souls...then he says wash our skin of all the hate, meaning our earthly bodies and all the sin and hate are washed away.
