| The Mars Volta – Miranda, That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I believe that the name Miranda is used in reference to the character Miranda from Shakespeare's play The Tempest. Miranda in The Tempest is a young naive girl put into an arranged marriage by her father. I think Miranda in this song was in a simerlar situation, and effectively killed her husband, to whom she had Frances and L'via. I have been interpreting the whole album, and i found a couple of connections. 1. all the names of the songs are in refernce to a space phenomenon i.e. Cygnus and Gemeni are star constellations, Miranda is a moon of Uranus and i think l'via is a star name, however i could be wrong about that one. 2. there is a motif of the number 25, it is mentioned in L'Via L"Viaquez and is repeated in Miranda: Con Safo and in the cover booklet of the Frances The Mute single it says that "nineteen sank and six would swim" of which adds to six. i will have more info as i interpret this album. Frances The Mute is my favourite album of The Mars Volta so far. |
