i think that this song is about being in love wiht one of your close friends (no homo though) and tellin them or tryin to "I felt for sure last night At once we said goodbye No one else will know these lonely dreams No one else will know that part of me" he feels a strong connection with this girl. she knows things about him that no one else does. Stop it..." hes wishing that he had told her that night. he knows that he doesnt have all the time in the world and he cant wait forever. "there's no one in town i know you gave us someplace to go " i think this is talking about someone going threw a really hard time and not knowing where to go. but this person was there for them and helped them through it. "i never said thank you for that thought i might get one more chance" then that person died. they had never thatnked them for all the help they had been becasue they werent expecting the death. "what would you think of me now? so lucky so strong so proud never said thank you for that now i'll never have a chance" he is wondering what the person would think of him now that he is through it and they are the one who helped him through it. he again didnt thank them for the help. "may angels lead you in hear you me my friends on sleepless roads the sleepless go may angels lead you in' he is hoping that angles lead this person in through the gates of heaven. "if you were with me tonight i'd sing to you just one more time a song for a heart so big god wouldn't let it live: he is wishing that he could spend one more night with that perosn so that he could thank them for all the help they were i think this is a song about a close friend that someone had who helped them a whole lot. they never had a chance to thank that person for what a great friend and help that they had been. i think about some friends of mine who have helped me through some hard times and just what it would be like if they died. this song reminds me to always thank people for when they help you, to forgive and to love and to know to be ready becasue death can show up out of no where |

I love this song. 3EB writes great songs that are very poetic. I agree wiht keithjones. I think that that is a very good interpretation of the song. I can really relate to this song. Especially in the line "i never felt alone, untill i met you im alright on my own, and then i met you" I had never before felt that i needed to be in a relasonship but then i dated this AMAZING girl for a couple months before she broke up wiht me. And that is exactly how i feel. I never felt like i was alone untill after her. and i never felt like i needed someone untill her and now its like im seaching for another special someone but i dont know if i will ever find someone like her. I can just really relate to these lyrics as i can wiht most of 3EBs songs. |

i agree with dta2k8. I know that the song is about that guy but if u no anything about u2s spiritual journey in the past 30 years then i think that it can also be interpreted to be about heaven. "You're packing a suitcase for a place None of us has been A place that has to be believed To be seen" I think that that is definitly talking about heaven. |
