| Bruce Springsteen – 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yes. Therefore he might be updating Sandy. Just random talk. No greater, genius meaning behind the sentence. | |
| Bruce Springsteen – Backstreets Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think this song can be interpreted in different ways... I don't think there is any right or wrong. Originally, I always saw Terry as a guy. I thought Backstreets was a song about true friendship, like DaCounselor writes (not gay love) However, after seeing old clips and listening to old bootlegs where Bruce is performing Backstreets, I'll never be able to see Terry as a guy again. Eventhough Bruce today refers to Terry being a guy and the song about friendship... Back then, it was a girl, and the song was about love and betrayal. (watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ksDUUkaoqY and tell me it's not a girl) |

| Bruce Springsteen – The Promised Land Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Small correction: Its "Find somebody itching for something to start", not "Pretty soon, I'll be itching for something to start". That line he only uses live from time to time, but in the original lyrics it is "find somebody itching for something to start" | |

cataractbabe: I agree, I think this is a song to interpret lierally. At least that's what I'm doing. And as for madam Marie... I think that perhaps him and Sandy are old friends or lovers, and haven't seen eachother for a while. Maybe she's been out of town, and he's updating her on what's been going on back home. |

| Bruce Springsteen – Human Touch Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Sparkyboy , I don't think, like mrgimme, that this song has anything to do with the Pretenders. It is "pretenders" like it says. (check http://www.brucespringsteen.net/songs/HumanTouch.html if you dont have the Human Touch booklet) But hey, you are welcome to interpret the song however you like :-) |

Deathsdoor99 : "Correct. While Springsteen was on tour in '87' and still married to Julianne Phillips, he was having an affair with Patti Scialfa, (guitarist/backing singer) who then became his second and current wife." Yeah, absolutely true, but what does this fact have to do with Darkness on the Edge of Town? It was released in '78 (which means you missed with about a decade) But even though Bruce himself hadn't gotten divorced at that time it's still a mighty song. Powerful, beautiful, meaningful. One of his absolute best |

| Bruce Springsteen – The River Lyrics | 17 years ago |

It's "and into the river we'd DIVE", not "drive" (who drives into a river?) Anyways, one of Bruce's best. No doubt |
