| Cannibal Corpse – Hammer Smashed Face Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Went to see these guys supporting (?!?!) Children of Bodom last night. Awesome. This was second to last song (coming before stripped raped and strangled) Yeah, the riff work has been heard before, yep, the horror theme is unoriginal, and of course the vocalist sounds like a hippo in labour, but the point is,it all fits and it all sounds right. The energy in the place was electric! sometimes you just need a bit of mindless mosh music to swing your hair to! if you want skill and depth, go check Opeth, Scar Symmery or To-mera out. For frantic headbanging you can't argue with these guys! The song is about smashing someones face with a hammer, Plain and simple. No messing about. Whatever motive the guy has for it is irrelevent. Now as for Octobersnackbar. The guy obviously wants an argument, I'm not prepared to give it. Im a senior advisor at Npower (one of the biggest power companies in Europe) I've had a girlfriend for years who ive never cheated on and don't smoke or do drugs. I'm in 2 bands, and I fit into none of the above catagories. I have plenty of standards so next time you decide to insult a group of people, dont be a streotyping fuck with no clues as to who or what he's talking about. |

A song of determination. Attempting to push through and carry on. I always think of this whole album as based on relationships. Failed or otherwise. It simply drips emotion from start to finish. This one could be trying to convince the partner to stay, dispite all the troubles being heaped on the relationship. Theres more to it then that, but thats all I'm giving for the moment |

You mean all 3 are great? I dont think this one matches up to "The Audio Injected Soul" but it still has killer moments! I'd say your right about it being about America, although it could be about any country I guess. If the writer feels such animosity towards where they come from (as I do) the target could be Denmark! (Where Mnemic are from)! Still, Damn good bit of writing! |

| Scar Symmetry – Reborn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Hmm. About resurrection. Hence the title! You could relate it to a number of different things like reincarnation, or maybe just a change in life, either way, its about moving forwards and leaving the past behind. | |

AAAGH!!!! Brilliant song off the new album!!! Just makes me want to headbang! The lyrics, in basic form, are about a being, transcending dimensions at will, with no limits and no way of being stopped. Sounds like it could be a ghost or something like. There is probably more, but thats the basics of it I think. |

| Fear Factory – Timelessness Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Very much so. Simple yet effective. Delivered with perfect execution. It makes you want to mourn for the state that humanity has got itself into. I've never heard anything so captivating. Especiallly live. The meaning is clear, Its Edgecrusher dying, and with him dies the hope of a better future. The light is gone, there is only darkness. And thats all that is left for humanity. Darkness. |

To be fair, there are a lot of different angles that people have come up with on this fucker of a song. One of my personal favourite headbanging songs of all time. Unstoppable riff work, titanic drumming with Randys hate drenched roar over the top. Sheer brilliance, like the rest of the album. I believe it can cover anti conformity to whatever. Government, Religeon, or anything else. Hatred for the enemy, and the perseverence of self. What more could you ask for? And sorry xzilhery, but if you'd heard of a band called Demon hunter, they write a lot of religeous lyrics, but a lot of fucking great metal too!! Even Fear factory wrote at least one religeous themed song (pisschrist). And as for "Halo" by Machine head.... |

| Paradise Lost – The Enemy Lyrics | 17 years ago |

No comments? Ah well, This is one of the best songs on the "In requiem" album. Very dark and moody the whole thing. The lyrical content is vauge at best though. as is always the way with Paradise lost, they leave interpretation up to the listener. Id say its about a generally unpleasant person, A liar, or someone who likes to talk rubbish with the aim of looking good. In the end though, this person is sad and hollow inside, knowing the words they speak about themselve aren't true. Thats my overall thought on it. |

ARGH!! This song had so much potential to be awesome! Everything works so well and then it just falls away! It could have been so much more. Definetly an anti suicide song. I just wish there had been more to it. |

| DevilDriver – Ripped Apart Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Hmm. Second wind usually referes to a return to form. Like if a boxer gets his "second wind" it means he's got a burst of energy and is starting to fight back harder. Second skin could just mean tougher against the criticism. Second sight will need a bit more imagination though. Maybe the insults are all too predictable so you see them coming, or something like that!! Ripped apart itself I'd say is a verbal thing. Whenever you're seen by someone who doesnt agree with you or, in my case, hates the way I dress (like chavs and trendies) the usual result is a torrent of abuse. Hence ripped apart on sight. Fits the whole criticism thing nicely I thought! Great song. Great riff work! |

| Dry Kill Logic – Hindsight Lyrics | 17 years ago |

No comments? Great song. One of the best on that album. Great way to close it up. Sounds like a second attempt at a relationship, and its failing again. Seeing now the things that made it fail the first time around. |

| DevilDriver – Hold Back The Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Great song. No doubt about it. Great band too. This is one of the most challenging songs I've ever headbanged to. The pace in the chorus is almost painful! I had a quick scan of the lyrics and the first thing that struck me was its vampire themed. The chorus Miles to go and sky's to fly Hold back the day… Miles to go and sky’s to fly It's darkest before the dawn… For me its a vampire with a proverbial axe to grind. and that he has so much to do before the sun rises. Hence "Hold back the day" Sounds like there is a lot of anger and comtempt in there too. like he's creating an opinion of humans in general. Maybe revenge on someone who wronged him before he turned, or maybe even the one who turned him. I'm gonna start to ramble if I keep this up, but thats what I got from it, although the suicide theory was also a good one. |

| Fear Factory – Self-Bias Resistor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I listened to this today for the first time in ages, and Burtons vocals on the chorus still send shivers down my spine and make me want to raise my voice with his. Even after 7 years of listening, this song is still as relevent and powerful as it was when it was first written. Timeless and brilliant. | |
