I could leave this comment on any of Green Day's new songs from 21st Century Breakdown. They have really surprised me with the depth of their songwriting and the musicianship they display in their new album. I have to admit I didn't expect much from this new album, thinking that American Idiot was the best they could do. I'm not sure that this is better, it will take more than one listen to decide, but the fact that after roughly 15 years Green Day can still pump out an album that sounds fresh and is entertaining to listen to is just damn impressive. They are able to change their style while still keeping a similar sound to what made them famous and what drew fans to them, something that many bands, especially late in their careers, simply are not able to do. Great song and another great album from a band that refuses to quit. |
