Rilo Kiley – Silver Lining Lyrics 17 years ago
Silver Lining: a redeeming quality in an otherwise bad situation. She being their silver lining. She assesses the situation of being with this person with whom she's found love - no money, they fight but just won't give up. She's the only good thing their life, so it hurts her to take that away from them too. I loved you, but even though it hurt to leave you, life went on, and I'm the better for it.

This song strikes me similar to the way "That's Alright" by Fleetwood Mac does. A mellow but happy bouncy song for when you're moving on from someone who's not good for you.

Tori Amos – Raspberry Swirl Lyrics 17 years ago
In an interview where she tells the meaning of several songs from this albulm... she explains that she wrote this song to a woman she fell in love with. Very plain and simple... and to those that are disgusted by some of the interpretations people have of this song... get over it... it's obvious what she's saying in this song... and they're not far off.

Tori Amos – I I E E E Lyrics 17 years ago
She had recurring visions of a child calling to her, beckoning her to follow the child. Out her door and into her car. The child was taking her somewhere she didn't know, but she knew when she got there, someone wouldn't be alive anymore. The child would stand in the back of the car with his arms outstretched akin to a crucifixion and say Iieee... which she transformed into the Iieee in the song. This information came from an interview where she explained the meaning... however, I saw it ages ago... so this is just my best recollection of her explanation.

Tori Amos – Blood Roses Lyrics 17 years ago
I'd always thought this song is from the perspective of a woman, who has been in love with, and in a relationship with a man who then went gay and her turmoil of dealing with this revelation. However, after having seen an interview with Tori explaining the inspiration and meaning of several songs from Choirgirl Hotel... I found that I was way off in what I thought was the meaning of those songs. Only Tori could really tell you what the meaning is... her abstract way of pinpointing is why many of us came to love her music.

Kaskade – Be Still Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree that this song is speaking of the rush of love... but rather how it clouds the mind, and often, our better judgement (always the same i jump too quickly)... our mind's awareness of this phenomenon, yet we are inherently compelled to fall anyway (denoted by second verse). In some manner... I think "be still my soul" is a form of plea, the mind pleading with the heart. In essence, the song is really speaking of the duplicity of love in our human nature... mind and soul aren't always in agreement. I concur with AeonMikey on this one.
