Flight of the Conchords – You Don't Have To Be A Prostitute Lyrics 15 years ago
You think the lyrics resemble Roxanne? Listen to the guitar strumming during the chorus. Also the way the chords change from a minor to a major key with the chorus resembles many of the Police's songs.

Though you might call this a parody of Police's Roxanne, I'm sure it's more of a tribute.

Massive Attack – Teardrop Lyrics 16 years ago
can't agree with u here... Love is the first and second word in this song and repeat emphasizes it. Now I'm no lyricist but I believe that makes love the theme of this song. "It's a verb, a doing word"... I think this contradicts the way we usually use the word. Most of us being afraid to express ourselves refer to love as a noun, constantly trying to be objective about it and consider it as something passive, something that just happens to us and for which we're never to blame. For one to dare ("gentle impulse") and use it as a verb, it takes honesty and courage (the "fearless breath" u need to say it out loud). The "most faithful mirror" connects to the (watery) eye that "mirrors" that person's true feelings (...maybe). At the moment of truth ("night of matter" maybe... I'm not sure) that person burns in the "fire of a confession" and all he/she has to put it out is teardrops. I can't understand why the flowers are black

...I just hope I'm close :P
btw I think people should just drop this idea about abortion
the fetus in the clip just looks eerie and that's probably all there is to it
after all it's americans who are preoccupied (or should I say obsessed) about the whole abortion controversy and Massive Attack are from Britain

Kyuss – El Rodeo Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's the drugs talking to him (John Garcia).
Just like when your bed is "calling" you when you're exhausted or when your fridge says "open me! open me now!" when you're extremely hungry!
Doing drugs is like a rodeo: you think you can handle the bull and before you know it his horns are up your ass!
They (the drugs) are honest: "you ride me for free, I'll "ride" you for nothing!... and it'll be a fucking rodeo".

Kyuss – Freedom Run Lyrics 17 years ago
don't think so
god's never in your grasp... that's the whole issue with god
I think he means a freedom run from an enslaving and restless desire.
He does realize though that this desire could as any desire be just an obsession and will mean nothing as soon as it's satisfied ("no fun could last, I'll hope you'll last")

Jerry Cantrell – Satisfy Lyrics 17 years ago
Imo, this is about the feeling of unfairness one - desperately in love - has. It's a feeling hard to understand, as the one he loves cannot be obliged to feel the same way about him. Nevertheless, he has a deep feeling of injustice, as though he is mistreated, because he cannot accept that his love is in vain. However, this is extreme: pleading for mercy he asks as a last thing to know if he should live (in hope that his love will eventually be requited) ...or get on with dying.

I'm not really sure though... I could be wrong.

What's wrong with women these days?... don't they know that no matter what she's got inside that trunk spending ALL that money is just a turn-off!
Who did ever feel horny and broke at the same time?

This song makes me sick!
Guys drooling over a chick makes me sick!
Dudes!!! Wake up and realize the truth: it's all easy come, easy go!

I know Lenny is your typical always-in-the-spotlight celebrity rockstar ... obviously that doesn't stop him from writing such nice reggae!

It's about freedom (=eleutheria)... it's not given but something achieved. Most of all it implies you have to feel free to be so ("my life is perfect, because I accept it as it is"), which reminds me of audioslave's (totally different music, I know!) exploder: "if you're free you'll never see the walls".
